Im watching it. USA seems a little sluggish. Stanford has lead most of the first half
Now USA has picked their game up and lead.

And relatively young and barring injury will keep getting better. Impressive recruiting class vs a high quality opponent.

Team USA was very rusty in the 1st quarter and during some of the second: poor execution, sloppy, some defensive lapses, and cold shooting which allowed Stanford to lead. No way will they play this crappy for any period of time against the Beavs, so I expect their winning margin against OSU will be at least double what it was against Stanford (ie. 30 points instead of just 15). Stanford is very good, but Team USA provided an assist. They won't be so generous with the Beavs!

For sure newduke. They won’t come out that slow against the Beavs. Luxury of playing them first.

Gotta give Stanford some credit. USA stretched the lead out to 12 or 13 a few times and the Card kept getting back within 6 or so. It was still a game until well into the 4th quarter. Maybe USA was rusty but Stanford was playing several Fr. with no experience even against college level, let alone a National team full of pros.
I thought it was cool when Nneka subbed out for the last time and she went straight to the Stanford bench to hug Tara and worked her way along the rest of the coaching staff and then the players.

Oh, no doubt Stanford is a good to very good team already, but does anyone really think Team USA will commit anywhere near as much self-inflicted damage for a second game in a row? I don't. The Beavs will be playing an improved team come Monday night. With that in mind, I don't think the scores, performances, and results (USA-Stanford game vs USA-Oregon State game) will be as directly comparable as many people think (but folks all over the country are going to compare them a lot anyway).

This couldn't have worked out much better for Stanford. With 5 minutes to go, they were only down 5. They proved to themselves that they can play with absolutely anybody, and this is going to give them a ton of confidence throughout the season. I hope we can do something similar on Monday, and I'm really, really looking forward to going to this game.

The saying in college football is that a team improves most from game 1 to game 2. I think we will see an anology of this with Team USA in women's basketball.

Bird, DT were coming of off injuries and Skyler took a year off to have a child. They indeed were rusty. Chelsea Gray also didn't make the game and she is the hardest matchup for a guard. Fowles is not the player she once was an is no longer dominant in the League. I suspect that many of the older WNBA vets committed themselves to this project to get an edge when the team is finally picked.I think age has finally caught up with DT and Bird.
