First two exhibition games have provided a chance to evaluate (albeit against sub- sub- PAC 12 competition) an important depth factor for BEAVS. Namely, what happens when a 2-year front court starter is not available? (Taya).
What with the two promising freshmen, who are only beginning to become the players they’ll be in February, and Janessa elevating her game, I think the answer might be: “we can handle that...”

Will be interesting to see whose minutes Taya takes when Taya returns.

Will be interesting to see whose minutes Taya takes when Taya returns. Well, from a purely positional standpoint it will be Mik. When Kennedy has left the game during the first two contests it’s been Mik sliding up to the 4. I think MW, JT and Jaz are the ones who’s minutes are most in danger. I’m very interested to see if we see Kennedy at the 5 with Taya at some point.

She defends other 5s really well. Freshmen foul -- they simply do -- it takes time for them to master the shot blocking technique without fouling like Ruth did so well, so I think we'll definitely see Kennedy slide down to the 5 at times, especially when we need height and Taylor finds herself in foul trouble. Rueck mentioned the other day she will play both the 4 and the 5. I think Kennedy will be the first sub off the bench for both Taya and Taylor, assuming both start. She gives a different look. Trish has shown ability too, but she still has some work to do. Her and Jazz both look a lot less confused than they did last year. I felt like last year they looked like they weren't sure what to do, but they look so much more comfortable. Right now, it appears Jazz is the likely candidate for first guard off the bench until Kat returns. We have a lot of versatility in the backcourt because Mik can play so many positions (1-3) and Aleah and Destiny can both play the 1 and 2. We'll learn a lot more against Team USA. We may also see us in some zone like Stanford did last night -- it looked pretty effective.
