If the points don't score, the inside game suffers. I like balance and unpredictability.

Concordia was completely overmatched. They kept leaving our guards wide open on the perimeter, and they took advantage. You will also note that Pivec, Slocum, and Goodman combined for 25 assists. Simmons and Mannon also participated in that, so the guards had about 30 assists.
Pivec missed about 5 layups you'd expect her to make, and also missed 4 free throws. So she could easily have gone for 20 or more. Then again, most anybody on the team could have gone for 20 tonight.
Watched Aquino in warmups. She really has a pretty smooth looking jump shot, which goes in with regularity. Also, no sign of any injury with Taya; she looks and moves just fine. Wonder what that's all about.

Anyone have any video or video links to share? Thanks for the comments on the game by folks. Here are the 2nd half highlights. Sorry, but I screwed up on the first half highlights.

Taya has a pulled hamstring....back in a week or so. Don't need her at the moment. Nothing serious.

Thanks for the update on Taya. Best to make sure she is healed so she isn't fighting it all season.

If it’s “pulled” that’s usually a pretty big deal and recovery takes more than a week or two.

Actually it is in games like this that you want to run plays. Scoring points even if they are there is not the priority. Of course I didn't see the game so I can not comment on if that was done. I do know that in the later part of last season when those outside shots were not dropping the offense stagnated. Just saw the clips and it appears they were playing for good shots. . Good ball movement. As to your take on Aquino! That is exactly one of the positives I noticed about her in high school. That is why I was so high on her. If you have a consistent jump shot at her height it's virtually unstoppable. They would have to double her off the ball. Put her on the high post or right outside the Key and another of the trees in the post and what could the defense do? They would have to collapse and play a tight zone and leave open three's all night. She has wing skills both in shooting and ball handling. Put her on the floor with a post with an inside game and there is not team that could stop them.

Was at the game last night. My highlights from the game are:
1. Destiny is playing at an incredibly high level. Not the same Destiny as last season. Playing under control, and extreme confidence/talent. Unstoppable. And, Destiny is playing legit defense. 2. Janessa is playing great at the wing. When we play teams with tall wings, Janessa will be on the floor for her defense. 3. Jas is coming around. I'm so glad Rueck is giving Jas lots of minutes. Again, defensively, Jas is going to be getting minutes. Plus, nobody is quicker than Jas getting up/down the floor. 4. Aleah got pulled at one point in the game, when the Concordia guard she was guarding, hit 2 open 3-pointers. Replaced Aleah with Jas. None of the coaches said anything to Aleah--she knew why she got pulled. When Aleah came back in, her defense was stifling. Aleah has great court vision. Made some amazing passes. 5. It will be interesting when we play taller/quicker teams if our ball movement is as impressive as it has been in these 2 exhibition games. Ball movement has been as good as I've ever seen it. 6. Pivec, Destiny, Aleah, Jas really get the ball up court in transition better than any Beaver teams in the past. It is impressive. Pivec knows no bounds when she has the ball in her hands in transition. Impressive athlete.

Really like the way Brown and Jones run the floor. Fast and efficient.
