Alvarado is a 5-11, 165 pound 2B from Redwood HS in Visalia, CA. He is currently a Junior in HS. His summer traveling team is the SoCal Giants. Redwood HS is a good program, they are 40-17 over Diego's two years on the varsity.

Alvarado was named to the pre-season All State underclass team by Prep Baseball Report. He becomes the 10th high school player to commit to Oregon State for 2021

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18)
Diego is an advanced 2021 SS prospect who plays with intensity on the field. He can really swing it with bat to ball ability and the tendency to find the barrel. He uses an explosive lower half to generate fast bat speed on a short path to the ball. He uses all fields effectively to make consistent contact and put the ball in play. At short, he is athletic with quick feet to show extended range to both sides. His arm is strong and accurate to make long throws and turn the DP. Continuing to long toss will improve his arm strength more and make it a weapon in the field. Diego is an exciting prospect with a bright future.

09/23/2018 - College PREP - Fresno, CA
Diego is a scrappy SS prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Diego shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and throws from a low 3/4 angle, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Diego can improve defensively by getting rid of the ball quicker. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits from a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and pop to his pull side. Diego can improve as a hitter by using the whole field. Overall, Diego is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

It looks like in the video that he takes an extra step or two from glove to throw.
