If she wasn't such a terrible coach, we would have never gotten here. With a 'decent' coach we would have remained middle of the Pac... She was so terrible we fired her and got Scott Rueck. I would have preferred to avoid the pain in the first place. Scott Rueck was a finalist for the job when OSU hired LaVonda Wagner. OSU passed on Scott for LaVonda. |

With all due respect to our 20/200 hindsight, Lavonda came in with an impeccable resume and at the time of her hiring seemed like a good catch. Hiring is always a bit of a crap shoot. I don't think anyone could have predicted her progressive mental disintegration. In retrospect, hiring Rueck instead of Wagner is a no-brainier. Unfortunately, actions don't happen in retrospect. |

And... maybe SR was not the coach he is now at that particular time?! The extra time at GF might have made the difference/matured/prepared him to take on a job in "dire straits" (sorry could not help myself). Coaching hires and "IF" they pan out are totally a crap shoot... I'm sure the Dolphins wouldn't have given Saban a great recommendation! |
