They are releasing preseason watch lists for various positions, 1 each day. Slocum was named to the Lieberman list for PG, but somehow Pivec was not included on the list for the Drysdale for 2G. These lists are often nonsensical as they list a player for a position that is not what they actually play, so Pivec could show up on the small forward list. Stay tuned.
Plenty of Pac 12 players being included. Along w/ Slocum there was Ionescu, Dean from UCLA and Gylten from Utah on the Lieberman list. On the Drysdale list is McDonald from Arizona, Moore from Oregon, Williams from Stanford, Watts from USC and Melgoza from Washington. McDonald and Williams both obviously play PG for their team and Moore was the PG at USC last year, proving my point about how dumb the committee is with these watch lists.

Seems to me that Pivec should've been on the Anne Meyers List. Won't be surprised if she does not end up on one of these award lists, until later in the season, when they have no choice but to add her.

Pivec has been added to the Cheryl Miller Award watch list for small forwards. Saw this on Instagram.

Pivec has been added to the Cheryl Miller Award watch list for small forwards. Saw this on Instagram. It must be the rebounding average and field goal percentage that leads others to believe that she is a 5'10" small forward. I hope that she shoots more frequently from beyond the arc this season so that she can help open the floor up more for her teammates, especially until we get (hopefully) Tudor back into the core rotation.

She makes a dam fine guard for a small forward!

At least you can make a decent argument that Mik is a small forward. Onyeware from UCLA is on the list, and she's much closer to a center than she is a small forward.

She shoots, assists and handles the rock like a guard. She rebounds and drives the paint like a small forward.
The upside of being a "tweener" is you'll get labelled 'versatile' and have enhanced draft status. The downside is positional awards get confused.....
Luckily Dr. Mik (I fully expect her to be that someday) will do just fine when mid-season additions are announced, since conference stat leaders seem to be the primary beneficiaries of those moves (though leaving off an obvious candidate might also be a good conversation and controversy generator in the preseason).
And I also suspect Mik will be the last to re-tweet the announcement when it comes. Yup, she's *that* good :-).
Go Beavers!
