It's time for all of us "amateur-experts" to show what we know - or think we know....
Tip off for 1st game is now 6 days away....Who does Coach Rueck pencil in for his very first starting line up?
Will he go with 4th year vet Maddie Washington? Does he go with 3 guards (Slocum, Pivec, Goodman)
Does he go with 3 forwards? (Corosdale, Brown, Washington) Does he start 2 rookies? - Brown & Jones...... Does he start one rookie?
Anyone out there willing to make predictions?
GO BEAVS !!

This is tough! Does Rueck start Goodman or does he want an experienced guard coming off the bench? Does he go with his most experienced front court players or does the future start now and he goes w/ one of Brown, Jones or Morris?
I think it's beyond safe to assume Pivec, Slocum and Corosdale start. The other 2 spots could go various different directions. Also fairly safe to think the starting lineup won't remain the same all during the season. He juggled starters quite a bit last year.

I can honestly only see 2 potential starting line-ups. I think until Kat is 100% back the first 4 are set in stone. Mik, DS, Goodman, and Taya. The only question is do you start Maddie or Jones? I think early he will start Maddie but by the time pac-12 starts that will change. I think if you see Jones starting early she's so far along Scott is already comfortable, and that would be a very big development for this season.
Brown I don't think starts because they see her as a 3/4 more than a 4/5. However, we will learn much more about this in November.

Coach goes with 2 guards so he can bring in Goodman off the bench.... Goes with 2 forwards and a post because he has so much bench strength at these positions...(Thropay, Brown, Morris).

My prediction for Sunday's exhibition starters: Slocum, Goodman, Pivec, Corosdale, and Brown I don’t think Scott is going start Brown at center, given that he has already referred to her as a wing and she has a strong desire to play there as a 3/4. I would go with your lineup except I think he would give a nod to the veterans and either start Maddie or Trish. He’ll bring the new players in off the bench. If he does go with a new player, it will be Taylor at center. I am sure looking forward to that game!

I liked what coach did last year with Aleah. Keeping her on the bench for the first 2 to 5 minutes and then bringing her in to run the point. She was able to see what was needed and then go in and do it. He was able to do that because as he says she has a very high basketball IQ and is basically another coach. I also noticed that she doesn't spend much time talking to Rueck during stoppages in the game like free throws. It will also be interesting to see who runs the point when both Destiny and Aleah are in. Last year Aleah ran it more and Destiny played the three. I'm not sure that they risk getting both point guards Into early foul trouble. However until Kat is back I think Aleah needs to start.
Mik, Taya, and Destiny start. I just don't see Maddie starting, she is the shortest of the options. Trish will probably start the early games but by conference play Taylor will replace her.

Simmons is a bit of a wildcard, haven't seen her mentioned in this discussion. The level of competition probably wasn't much, but it sounds like she excelled in Italy. She could fit the role of a 3 better than anyone else until Tudor is ready to go.

A chance to stretch some legs vs someone else...

75% of the non-conference will mean little. This game may be more competitive than some non-conference games.

Maybe he'll only play those who need to stretch their legs...Or maybe stretched legs really mean little.... Obviously this is not the season's most important game. It's the First Game. So, in your vast knowledge, pick a starting lineup. Even if it "really will mean little." GO BEAVS !!

Sorry to burst your bubble... but, doesn't take much "vast knowledge" to guess at a starting lineup! Especially one of such a meaningless game. SR could even start someone who may never get to start again... he may start those he'll start in most games. So... whomever starts will actually be a great lineup vs this competition.

They have enough quality players to run a platoon system constantly rotating them to keep them fresh. Just put names in a hat and pull them out. First few games mean very little anyway. I am amazed that some people would still believe that Mattie would ever see the floor as a center ever again. Especially considering the number of tall players on this roster that will require floor time somewhere. Mattie was never considered a center, rather only a stopgap circumstantial option at that position last season.

Well, she started at the 5 during 3 of the 4 games in Italy, so maybe SR is one the people who still believe she'll see time at center. I don't think she'll be starting there once January hits, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was starting there during November.

Exhibitions SR has usually had at least one HUH? in the line up. Usually because he's letting someone who shows up a little sore or whatever rest and sends someone else out to get a starting experience. The real head scratcher will be for the starting lineup against the national team. And I'm not sticking my neck out until I see how the how it goes in these exhibitions. The wild cards I see are whether it will be Trish at post and Jas at the 3.
