I just noticed that there are two exhibition games on the WBB schedule page now: Union University (Tenn.) OCT 27 (SUN) 2:00 PM PT Concordia University (Ore.) NOV 1 (FRI) 6:00 PM PT So we will at least have been in a few "games" prior to the USA basketball tilt. Go Beavers!

Union University is a D2 squad from Jackson, Tennessee that went 27-4 last season.
It would be interesting to know the coaching connection that compelled a D2 team from Tennessee to travel to Corvallis for the exhibition game against a Top Ten D1 squad. Kudos to Union for stepping up to the challenge.

Kudos to Union for stepping up to the challenge. In addition, Union's HC coached Verhulst, Betts, and Gardiner this summer as he was the HC of the FIBA U16 team. He has built a terrific program at Union over the past 20 or so years. Their AC, Sara Hammond, had a terrific career at Louisville and was a very highly-ranked HS recruit back in 2011 - she also led her team to a victory over OSU back in 2012: gocards.com/boxscore.aspx?id=8559&path=wbball

"In addition, Union's HC coached Verhulst, Betts, and Gardiner this summer as he was the HC of the FIBA U16 team." Now that is an interesting piece of information...And one does not need to be Machiavellian to connect the dots....(At least the dots I see!!🤠).
None of those premiere h.s. kids including Verhulst, Betts and others are likely going to Union!! But they do have a connection with the Union coach who now, if things go right in his Corvallis visit, his tour of the facilities, his reaction to the fan base, and even a possible VIP treatment, he will be in a position to let these players know what he thinks of OSU.....If I was Rueck I'd be thinking along exactly those lines....
I haven't checked out Union's schedule to see if they are travelling in this part of the country on the 27th, or if they are making a cross country trip just for the Beaver game and then head home....
At any rate, this is the first thing that crossed my mind after reading beaverwbb fan's interesting post..... GO BEAVS !!

You are on to something, 411500. Union goes to Corvallis for their first game, then back to Tennessee for the rest of their season in their region. There's got to be a connection here, and it sounds like a good one.

I did a little digging and discovered that Union has a very impressive coach, with a remarkable W-L record at Union over the past 20 years.... For those of you who take interest in these matters, check out the link..... uuathletics.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/mark-campbell/422P.S. Union is a private Evangelical Christian school, according to their website.... GO BEAVS !!

Union does have a very impressive coach - fastest in the history of the sport to 500 and 600 wins, and at the same school for 20 years - certainly someone in the right profession at the right place. Sounds like a good guy. Also sounds like we might get a competitive (exhibition) game out of Union, too, since the bio emphasizes his team's ability to play up to the competition. And thanks for ferreting out the connections to some players on our radar....
Good to know there are fine coaches named Mark Campbell like this wonderful gentleman at Union who are not complete scumbags like the similarly named coach just down the road at uo - the universe truly does even out good and bad (hey, I'm just warming up for the Pac-12 season :-).
Go Beavers!
