I'm not sure it really says much about Taylor's recent injury, but he did make it seem like Jelena will be back for this season (no redshirt... saying "she has a role to play" this year) and, though he didn't have a time-table, he made it sound like it would be sooner, not later (said she is getting stronger).

From the interview, it only sounds like Kennedy Brown missed some practice (not feeling well). No mention of Taylor Jones missing any time at all.

Not on Instagram, could you fill us in? The videos show them getting their new Beaver gear... hence "Early Christmas". But the most significant learning is that Taylor Jones looks fine... no boot.

The boot is off Jones for now following several days rest. A credible source revealed that an MRI showed no stress fracture. That is really good news. Happy to hear as well that the training staff elevated the diagnostic tool to an MRI following what was probably an initial x-ray. Her injury appears to be strained foot muscle that Jones will continue to play through as can be tolerated until it (hopefully) fully subsides.
That same source described Jones as having a high pain tolerance. Her foot was apparently hurting in Italy, but the frosh wanted to show the coaching staff what she could do and played through it. Freshmen often prefer to do so because that is what they believe is expected. The burden is really on the trainer and coaching staff to try to identify who is simply sore from muscle soreness and who may be in pain from something that could be structural. Not always easy to differentiate by observation. Clear limping and evidence that an athlete is no longer appearing to be running freely are always red flags that should trigger consideration of resting for an athlete. Happy to hear that the coaching staff shut down Jones for several days and had her watching practices on the sidelines while riding an exercise bike.

Can't be too safe. Good to hear the results were nothing serious.

beavershoopfan--thanks for a great progress report on Taylor Jones...It is really helpful, at least to me, to learn about the specific health challenges these athletes face.... This foot strain obviously is not a short-term thing hampering Taylor if she was suffering with it more than a month ago in Italy....Hopefully, it will soon be a thing of the past.... Love your "sources." GO BEAVS !!

beavershoopsfan, thanks for keeping us updated. Obviously this is slowing down Taylor's ability to practice with the team, so it's good that she had that extra time to show what she could do while in Italy. We appreciate the information you provide.
