In the class of '22, Oregon State has two pitchers committed, both right-handers and both starting their sophomore year of high school. Ian Ritchie is 6-2 and 175 from Bainbridge Island in Washington, just a short Ferry ride from Seattle in the Puget Sound. Tyler Gough is 6-1 and 180 from Heritage HS in Romoland, Ca. down in Riverside County.
Because there is approximately 25 months left before National Signing Day for them, they are fair game for college recruiters. We can only assume they are solid and not interested in hearing from other programs. Neither are Oregon kids that worship at Goss starting in their early childhood - many with parental and other family ties to the University. For an Oregon prospect, OSU is THE Dream School. (Yovan excepted)
Since Yeskie was involved to some degree in the early exposure to OSU, he may take a run at one or both young pitchers. I would think it imperative that Bailey, Canham and Dorman all build on their existing relationship to keep the Wolves at bay. Get them on campus for unofficial visits when possible, OSU baseball camp, exposure to the coaches and players early and often, get them in the locker room with the team on the USC/UCLA and UW road trips. Lots to do and a real challenge for our staff.
On the latest Baseball America rankings listing the TOP-50 MLB prospects in the class of 2022, Ritchie is ranked 15th, Gough is 16th.
Serious stuff, boys.

Totally agree, far better to be proactive today rather than surprised tomorrow. Additionally, Canham establishing a winning program, early and often, will keep current and future recruits on the side of the Beavers.
