Looking good against UA. 14-0 to start. That will be a very tough game for us

Both team's defenses are porous. I like this matchup a lot for OSU, will find out more after the game next Friday.

If not for the TO's, Arizona would be down by four possessions. This looks to be one of those good years for the Warriors.

Hawaii wins 45-38. I couldn't watch the game, since I don't get CBSSN, so I just followed the play-by-play. I'm sure many of those who watched it (and many who didn't) will tell me that UA's defense sucks. But the fact is that Hawaii scored 45 points on a power 5 defense, DESPITE 6 TURNOVERS. Holy smokes. Looks like more than a few games on the schedule where our offense may have to score 45+.

UA could not get any pressure on the Hawaii QBs - and they still threw 4 picks. Let's hope our improved D-line play can get some pressure. The Warriors have some nice wideouts.
That said, UA was insane not to look to establish the run early - Hawaii was vulnerable to it all night. Our backs should rack up big numbers.

Looks like more than a few games on the schedule where our offense may have to score 45+. Banker's 4-2-5 base defense was better than Arizona's four-man hybrid defense. The Wildcats came up with one sack all game. Hawai'i only came up with two. Personally, it is tough to tell what portion of phenomenal offense/terrible defense I was watching. Hawai'i benched its starting quarterback, Cole McDonald, in favor of 2017 Hawai'i Player of the Year Chevan Cordeiro. Cordeiro is technically a freshman but started one game last year and played backup in three other games. McDonald looked bad on deep balls. Cordeiro did not really impress me on deep balls either. He seemed to be clearly better at not forcing it into coverage than McDonald. In any instance, Hawai'i was lucky that it was only six turnovers. It could have easily been more, if the Wildcats' young defensive backs had not played so poorly. Both teams looked very soft up front. A sustained quality rushing attack probably would have resulted in at least 50 points, but Arizona ran 58:42 passing plays and Hawai'i ran 63:37 passing plays. If Oregon State is healthy, I would be very happy to see that play-calling in two weeks. Hawai'i out X'd and O'd Arizona. If not for McDonald trying to make plays that he physically could not and force balls into triple coverage, Hawai'i would have won in a laugher. Once again, tough to tell, if it was great coaching on Hawai'i's part or just great-in-comparison to the atrocious coaching on Arizona's part. The Wildcat coaching staff was very unimpressive both on offense and defense and made terrible blunders throughout. Arizona looked very beatable, but the game is in Tucson this year. I am curious to see whether Hawai'i is as beatable in two weeks at home off of a bye.

Is Banker the co-DC now? Cory Batoon is their DC this season as far as I know.
It's about mobilie defenders and our ability to cover Hawaii's receivers and getting to the quarterback. He has trouble when pressured. Guys like Elu and Jordan will be less important, and the cover guys will become huge in covering four wide-outs. McDonald is kind of a gun slinger. Can't drop potential interceptions against him...

Seems as though the Kevin Sumlin era is off to a rough start in Arizona.
