Jack's little Bro. Two years of high school left and he's growing. 2B / RHP Bats left.
Washburn’s smooth, left-handed stroke stood out on Day 1 of the Future Games, and his probability as a two-way player will create plenty of buzz amongst college coaches tracking him. The 6-foot, 170-pound infielder posted a 6.94 60-yard dash time with a 90mph exit velocity off the bat, and showcased some surprising strength to the pull side during batting practice. Still maturing with an athletic frame, Washburn demonstrated the ability to get the ball in the air, and could acquire even more power in the future. Though he pitched to some tough-luck in his outing on the mound, I was a big fan of the projection, and the pure stuff was obvious. Utilizing a loose, continuous arm stroke, he delivered fastballs that touched 89mph multiple times on a downward plane, and countered it with a sharpe, near 12/6 curveball at 74-76. Being that he is still maturing physically and adding strength, there is a good chance that he makes another big jump on the mound in the near future. Overall, Washburn’s upside at the plate and on the mound are definitely going to spark plenty of interest with college recruiters moving forward.
