Bottom of the first our freshman hopeful makes it only a third of an inning after giving up a 2 run homer and a double and our senior pitcher comes in and gives up another 2 run homer and were down 4-0 going into top of 2nd. Ug

Ladies put up a crooked number in the top half of the 3rd and tie it at 5. Now for our adventurous pitching we go to the bottom half.

Our poor pitching. Grand slam for Utah in the home half. 9-5 after 4.

Softball ends up getting run ruled in the 6th inning (14-6). Same *&^% different year. Pac 12 teams are such that you can't have fringe D1 pitching which is what we had today. I'm wondering if our freshman hopeful is battling that bad cold/flu that's been going around cuz she has really struggled lately. Our senior pitcher had 11 earned runs in 5.1 innings. Wow! We did fairly well on offense scoring 6 runs on 12 hits through small ball. We could have had more but we swung at poor pitches and let good ones go by. Coach Laura Berg laments about that very issue. Even still, small ball is great when you have dominant pitching, but we don't. 8 of Utah's runs came on a grand slam and two 2 run homers. We did not hit one. In fact, our best home run hitter who has 8 on the year and 2 yesterday, tried to bunt her way on and she has absolutely no speed. I don't understand how she can be in the program for basically her 4th year being a red shirt junior and make that mistake. In her defense the bunt landed a foot in front of home plate so it was an easy pick up and throw but still, Earl Weaver would never allow that.
I hope the ladies win tonight and help me out of this depression.
