I read BeaverBlitz where people were speculating Aquino has Marfan syndrome, and I fear that is the case with Aquino... I read the description and it matches almost perfectly.

If it were Marfan’s I don’t think there would be any chance she would come back. Most likely it would be an irregular heartbeat. That could have been the result of her being previously malnourished, in which case it could go away in time. Even if not that, there are treatments for some other forms of arrhythmia.

Yes, if it was Marfan, she would done. There would be no speculation. Fernando Borcel flashback....for those of you that remember him.

Another point from the article:
On Aug. 7, 10th-year head coach Scott Rueck and his staff will convene their 13 players for the 2019-20 season for the first of 10 allotted practice sessions as the Beavers prepare for their foreign trip to Italy later in the month.
Anyone know if practices are open to the public? Crazy to think that less than a month from now WBB will be tipping off again!
Go Beavers!

Practices are not generally open to the public.

I speculated here that she has Marfan's Syndrome. I was at OSU the year Borcel was here. As a side-note 7'3" is really, really tall. My only expertise in medical areas is that I've been sick a lot. Anyway after I posted my concern, I looked up Marfan's. I don't remember exactly what I found, but I think it said that those with it, their index finger is longer than their middle finger. I saw a photo of Aquino and that clearly is not the case. So, besides the logic expressed in this thread, I would be very surprised if she has it. I'd invite wilky or whoever likes finding facts on the internet to make sure I remember correctly.

I have no idea if AA has Marfan syndrome.....I enclose some assorted information I tracked down doing amateur research....I do not have citations.....
Medical diagnosis from afar is foolhardy and I do not endorse it. The attached info is simply to advance our general understanding of Marfan syndrome.
Participation in Sports for the Athlete With Marfan Syndrome Participation in competitive athletics for the individual with Marfan syndrome is prohibited except for low intensity sports such as golf, bowling, and others not associated with intense physical exertion and bodily collision as outlined in the 36th Bethesda Conference5 This recommendation is based on the concern that more intense sports with higher levels of isometric and dynamic exercise leads to greater aortic wall stress and increases the risk for aortic dilatation and dissection. New guidelines for disqualification from competition for athletes with aortic disease including Marfan syndrome have been sanctioned by the American Heart Association…..
The Marfan Foundation Statement on Marfan Diagnosis of NBA Prospect In light of the Marfan diagnosis of French basketball center Jonathan Jeanne, who was expected to be a first-round selection in the 2017 NBA draft, The Marfan Foundation lauds the NBA for both its thorough screening of players entering the draft and its consistent policy to prohibit players with the condition to participate in the league.
"People with Marfan syndrome can live a long life if they are diagnosed and treated with medication and, when necessary, surgery. Competitive and contact sports should be avoided, and need to be halted once Marfan is diagnosed to protect the fragile aorta. Otherwise, it is prone to tear and possibly rupture, which would cause sudden death," said Heidi Connolly, MD, Professor of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Chair of The Marfan Foundation’s Professional Advisory Board.
In general, most people living with Marfan syndrome should exercise regularly through low-intensity, low-impact activities adapted to meet their specific needs. They should avoid contact sports because of the risk of damaging the aorta and injuring the eyes. Strenuous activities, such as competitive sports and weightlifting, also should be avoided because of the stress placed on the aorta.
Flo Hyman, captain of the 1984 U.S. Olympic volleyball team, died of an aortic dissection caused by Marfan syndrome during a tournament in Japan in 1986. She did not know that she had Marfan syndrome; the diagnosis was made at autopsy. ------

I truly hope that isn’t it. A player at Baylor had it a few years ago, and didn’t get it diagnosed until he left and was ready for the draft.
Another symptom was crowded teeth, and hers looked very overcrowded. She actually just recently got braces though.

If she had Marfan's there is no way they'd even let her practice, even on a limited basis.

I do believe it is Marfan syndrome. But you won't get a university athletic representative to confirm that! She does do light "non-contact' stuff in practice. Lay-ins, etc. Never runs the court.

Chi Baker's participation in any basketball-related activities stopped the second he was revived. Borcel never even suited up once his condition was discovered.

Here is a more specific case of a player from Baylor, whose Marfan's syndrome was not discovered until he was preparing fot the NBA. Despite having Marfan's, he IS allowed to still play basketball. I think she could still have been told she can participate in layup lines if she does have it. deadspin.com/isaiah-austin-is-still-medically-banned-from-the-nba-b-1828536890
