Thanks for posting very interesting highlight videos of an up and coming star.....
There is a lot to like about her game....It's the first time I've seen her in action, but this is why I like what I see. 1. she 6'1 - great size for a perimeter player 2. she's young - 2 more years of high school 3. excellent 3 point shot 4. has pretty good use of her left hand at the bucket - with lots of time to improve on it 5. she passes efficiently and with a fairly quick release.....
I don't know the level of competition she was dealing with in these video clips....But all in all, I'd say she's a darn good prospect....Katie will be all over her and her family.... GO BEAVS!!

I agree with your points. She seems extremely well-rounded and appears to have what it takes to compete in the Pac-12 in a couple of years. The Tree of Hope EYBL Twitter page does post when she receives scholarship offers, so I assume we’ll know when/if she has one from the Beavs. But she does seem interested in OSU as she is following Scott, Jenny, the official WBB page and Beaver Athletics on Twitter… not to mention her recent liking of a few OSU-related tweets. Hoping for the best!

I’d personally love to see a class of Olivia Anderson, Sofia Bell, Montaya Dew and Jenna Villa. I highly doubt we get all four, but suspect there’s a good chance we get at least one, maybe two. There seems to be some great options for 2023 though, so I’m sure we’ll be content with whoever the coaching staff develops strong relationships with.
In my opinion, it’s wishful thinking that we could land Breya Cunningham, Addy Brown or Amari Whiting (please say if you think otherwise). As far as I can tell, Breya does not appear to be interested, Addy seems to want to take a different route than Kennedy, and Amari is more interested in other programs. I’m guessing Addy has been to Corvallis before (?), but I’m hoping she takes an unofficial at least. We’ll see who takes visits throughout the next 6 months or so. It’ll be interesting- that’s for sure!
Anyways, just sharing some random thoughts (not at all facts) on the potential 2023 recruiting class while I’m on a long flight. Feel free to share your thoughts as well!

It will be interesting to see if Jenna Villa remains at Arlington h.s. for her Junior and Senior years. I presume the competition in her league is rather weak.
On the other hand, there is no place nearby to transfer to without disrupting her family life considerably. I'm guessing that Seattle is the closest place with serious competition at the h.s. level and I would think most close knit families would veto that idea.
So, she might remain where she is and work on her fundamentals, and hook up with special coaches for certain kinds of skill development - and then rely on summer ball for her high-level competition. Or, simple as it sounds, she just might practice more against boys to improve her competitive skills and her physical toughness.
Personally, I think that is the best route to follow for small town athletes - especially in basketball. It worked out fine for van Lith out of Cashmere. Olivia Anderson has a similar dilemma living in Ellensburg.
I'm mainly just thinking out loud here, so I'd be interested in hearing from some of you who might know more about how small town athletes with big time ambitions handle the problem of weak competition.... GO BEAVS!!

I think you're way off base w/ the "weak competition" assessment about Arlington. They are a 3A school, in WesCo, which also includes 4A schools. That's definitely not small school level. A number of WesCo teams have placed in the State Tournament in both 3A and 4A in recent seasons. It's a good solid league. Includes several schools in Everett, one of the bigger population centers in the Puget Sound other than Seattle. Pivec played at Lynnwood, they are in the same league as Arlington. She turned out fine at OSU. Ellensburg has a similar population to Arlington but is much more rural and the school is 2A. Cashmere is tiny, it's a 1A school. Neither are particularly good comparisons to Arlington.
4A and 3A are pretty much interchangeable. 2A is a noticeable drop, and 1A is an entirely different stratosphere.

nwhoopfan - - thanks for the info on Arlington and the quality of competition they face in basketball.....
I envisioned Arlington as more of an isolated rural community, along the lines of Sedro-Wooley. I did not know they competed in the same league as Lynnwood... And when I wrote "presume the competition in her league is rather weak", that is exactly what I did - I presumed. So thanks for providing helpful information. I appreciate it....
I once lived in Ellensburg for 6 years, so I have a better sense of it than of Arlington. I have travelled to Arlington many times, but I always approached it from the East and travelling that route gives one the feeling of it being more rural than it actually is.....
Whatever, I still think it's a good idea for Jenna to play against boys to sharpen her game.🏀 GO BEAVS!!

There are certainly rural areas in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties that are kinda out there, but it's still just not the same as rural areas on the east side of the Cascades. Arlington definitely has a small town feel to it (although nothing like Darrington, which you've surely passed thru if you came from the east). I've never seen the high school.
I went to school at CWU, so I spent 4 years in Eburg. Definitely have a soft spot in my heart for that community.
