No. Dropping swimming actually made us more Title IX compliant, as it brought our male-female athlete ratio (52-48) closer to the actual male-female student-body ratio (54-46).

More than that, women's wrestling is one of the most exciting new sports. The participation level in high school is up every year. Adding women's wrestling would be a huge boost to the men's team as well because it attracts new fans to the sport. The Olympic Games are expanding wrestling opportunities for women and OSU should be one of the first D1 schools to get on board.

Women's wrestling, beach volleyball, or women's tennis would be nice debuts in Corvallis... Unfortunately I don't see this happening

OSAA sponsors HS Championships, Simon Fraser and Pacific Uhave women’s teams. It’s an Olympic sport. It’s a cheap sport to sponsor (compared to others). I’d love to see it happen. Looking to the future, I’d say either add women’s wrestling at OSU or ultimately drop wrestling altogether.

Why add a sport when we don't need to, and drain another $1 million or so away from sports we already have?

Misogyny ”Every time they can put down a woman, they unconsciously feel good because deep down in their hidden brain, their bad behavior is rewarded with a dose of the pleasure chemical dopamine—which makes them want to repeat the behavior again and again.”

Why add a sport when we don't need to, and drain another $1 million or so away from sports we already have? I say we either help grow the sport of wrestling or we get out of it. Status quo is just watching it’s continuing decline. I remember OSU wrestling in the 60’s and 70’s. The program today is a sad shadow of that legacy. And the fan base is not getting any younger.

Why add a sport when we don't need to, and drain another $1 million or so away from sports we already have? I was talking to an NAIA coach not too long ago and he said the other challenge right now is that the small schools in particular are adding women's wrestling so quickly that there really aren't enough quality wrestlers to go around just yet. Hopefully that changes down the road with increased HS/club participation.
