OSU connection may have helped...
"Jeff Reinert, Li’s coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High in Southern California"
Although not from the best of eras at OSU.

Best thing is he's here this fall I believe.
I am seeing more 6'10" and 6'11" listed than 7'0"s though, but most everyone seems to have him in that 240-250 range. Big kid.

People on this board must be brain-dead right now if you're not really excited by and talking about this commit. There is no comparison between him and Rakocevic. If his video is any indication, then he's quick, attacks the basket well, puts the ball on the floor competently, and is a very good passer, indicating high basketball IQ. If Tinkle can teach him up, he could be a contributor in his first year, even with Dastrup and Kelley coming back. He's agile, highly coordinated, and has quick feet. Notice how he well he protects the ball and positions his feet to gain advantage on the defender.

There’s not a whole lot out there on him, but from gleaning little bits and pieces he’s apparently played basketball since the 1st grade, has at least part of 3 seasons of Euroleague ball and played some AAU ball. He might be a bit further along than some bigs we’ve had here lately. Hopefully he’s just coming of age in basketball.

Parker mentioned seeing Jeff Reinert in town last week, on a JBS broadcast. He must have accompanied Mr. Li on his visit. I think Santa Margarita is Carson Palmer's HS.

Soft touch on his shot. Really knows how to use his body to create space. This is a great pick up! Especially if he can play this year.

From everything I hear, this sounds like a great pick up. He may pick up some valuable minutes this season. Even though Dastrup is a 4, it may look like he will back up Kelley at the 5, or Li can pick up some minutes in games. I like his build and skills. Gianni Hunt is familiar with him and is excited to have him aboard. I like this pick up.

I'm hoping this helps keep Payton at the 4 spot more often than the 5. I would think a big lineup with Kylor, Payton and Tres (assuming he returns, we'll find out soon) would be a lot to handle for a lot of teams. It also frees up more time for Payton at the 4 if Tres doesn't return.
This takes the sting out of losing Washington some. This is good get.

Have not seen Li in person, but tape has him at a better skill level that I've seen from Dastrop in practice sessions/shoot arounds. He will get more than "some" minutes.

Of course you baseball acumen doesn't either: "Yep and at this rate, Jones, Armstrong, Taylor, and Claunch, may not see many more ABs." Hmmmm... vs maybe the best team OSU has played, on the road... 5 hits, 3 BB, 2 R, 2 RBI Of course along with all those 80mph fast balls in the 1920's, it goes to say a Bill Russell couldn't play in today's NBA with all these great athletes!!

game is a lot like Rakocevic. earthbound but creates his shot by carving out space with bulk. Not afraid to be physical. Not going to leak out and try to be a perimeter player. Knows his place, on the inside. He looks like he can help once he gets over the curve.
