Tough year.
By the way, I looked at the NCAA official site for info on automatic qualifiers. Up pops an article on the dominance of SEC softball. The SEC has won 3 of the last 7. Tip of the hat. But total bull on SEC dominance.

Tough year. By the way, I looked at the NCAA official site for info on automatic qualifiers. Up pops an article on the dominance of SEC softball. The SEC has won 3 of the last 7. Tip of the hat. But total bull on SEC dominance. Oklahoma has matched that 3 Championships in the last 7 years. It would be much more accurate to say OU has dominated softball. Not to mention an SEC team hasn't won it all since 2015. But the SEC has to be hyped up at all times in all sports, par for the course.
And then there's that little fact that UCLA and Arizona have combined for 19 of the 37 Titles all time and add in 2 for Arizona St. and 1 each for Cal and Washington. 23 of 37 for 1 conference, and it ain't the SEC.

Pac-12 hasn't won since 2011 and has only been in one final since. You can only spend so much on football so a lot of the the money the Big Ten and SEC have received from their TV contracts ($10-20 million more per year than the Pac-12) has been invested in women's sports like softball and volleyball, with predictable results.

Last season, all 13 SEC teams made the tournament. 2 SEC teams made the CWS. 4 Pac12 teams made the CWS. Washington at least played in the finals. I will still take Pac12 and I recognize the great Florida teams.

SEC needs to up their spending in volleyball, they are still way behind in that sport. For the most part it's the Big 10 and Pac 12 + Texas, and nobody else really matters (and really it's just Stanford, Penn St. and Nebraska). Florida is solid but they are way behind those top 3 volleyball schools.
I realize Pac 12 dominance in softball ended. Still UW was in the Championship series last year and UCLA, UW and Arizona all look like potential contenders this season.
