It's that time of the season....
From this camera angle, looks like Marie is the tallest Dream player......
Here's hoping we have reason to follow three teams more closely this WNBA season.
Go Beavers!

The Chinese players probably haven't shown up yet. A lot of Chinese players signed this season but many will probably not play. They have a lot of National commitments pending. Stafford might still be playing overseas- some teams are still in the playoffs.

Speaking of the WNBA, an early 2020 mock draft has Mik at #7 (doesn’t include Destiny who may leave). It is expected to be a weaker draft than 2019.

I have no idea but it sounds like her next stop after OSU is Med School. And as it stands now, being an MD is far more lucrative (at the end of her undergrad + 4 years of med school + 3-8 years of residency/internship) than being a WNBA player.

If lucrative is the issue, I think you are right.
I read somewhere that Mik says she wants to give the pros a shot. It's hard to shut down the competitive juices once they get flowing, and every athlete wants to get tested at the highest levels. I get that.
But, I just don't get the allure that the WNBA holds for some of these young women...Many play for a lower annual pay check than the cab driver who drives them to the gym. They play in half to two-thirds empty arenas. Their body takes a beating in practice and travel... And all that when you're getting playing time....If you're NOT getting playing time you're basically practice fodder, a game spectator, and not too much else - - all this while working at minimum wage sleeping in cheap hotels.....
Is all that worth putting med school on hold for 2 or 3 years....If you're 22, maybe.....Who knows !!

That mock only included players who will not retain eligibility after the 2019-20 season. Players like Destiny and a few others who will be draft eligible, but still have college eligibility left, were listed after.

Projections in advance of the 2019-20 season are inherently speculative. Come March 2020 both Destiny and Mik will have their most important seasons behind them. No telling how that will impact their draft status.
2018-19 was Mik’s ‘coming out ‘...will her Senior Season bolster that....or otherwise? That’s what makes it so damn exciting!

Destiny is listed at #10 overall and Mik is listed as #13 (first pick in second round) of the mock 2020 WBNA Draft listed on draftsite.com that is accessible below. Destiny is one of two "early entry" draftees in that mock draft along with Texas A&M's Chennedy Carter. We remember Carter and the first half that she had against OSU in the championship game of 2018 Maui Classic this past December. www.draftsite.com/wnba/mock-draft/2020/The mock 2020 WNBA Draft that is originally referenced above by beaverwbb fan is accessible here: highposthoops.com/2019/05/07/2020-wnba-mock-draft-sabrina-ionescu-leads-the-way/8/

Anyone who knows WBB knows that the WNBA is not where the pro players make their money, it all comes from overseas. Would be nice if someday the WNBA can pay enough that they don’t need two seasons, but pro pay is way higher.

Initially they playing on a rookie contract. which starts at about 41 thousand and kicks up a bit every year until it takes a big leap in the fifth. Wiese is in her third year and her salary is $47,798.00. Next year, if she sticks, it will be $54.315.00. The following year she would be eligible to sign a max contract with is about 115 thousand give or take depending on other variables. Players also can get signing bonuses that raise that amount. All those figures are what they get from the WNBA alone. They get considerable more overseas. Teams overseas do not rely on gates for their revenue. They are sponsored by cities and corporations who, along with salaries multiple time that of the WNBA, also might supply apartments and cars to their players.
Players mostly play in the WNBA for exposure. The exposure increases their value overseas and might get them advertisement gigs. It is very difficult to make an WNBA roster. People here might actually be surprised at who on the team would have the best chance of sticking a WNBA roster spot.

willtalk - thanks for the info on player salaries - very helpful....
Not sure what you had in mind with your last sentence: "People here might actually be surprised at who on the team would have the best chance sticking to a WNBA roster." Did you have something, or someone, particular in mind when you wrote this? Why don't you expand on this topic. I know that I would be interested in knowing who on the roster would surprise me as having the best chance to make the WNBA !! GO BEAVS !!
