It's good news they are looking into and pursuing it, but it seems like this effort should have started 5 or more years ago.

I hate to say this as a long time supporter of OSU wrestling, going back to the Dale Thomas, Greg Strobel, Tom Phillips days - but the future of this sport in the PAC-12 and at OSU just seems gloomy if not actually doomed.
Is there ANY cause for hope?

Why tf is Fresno St. in the Big 12? Because the Pac-12 said "thanks but no thanks" (didn't want more affiliate members). And then Boise left. |

Not a good equation for the sport’s future in this conference. I guessing it’s only Stanford’s clout that keeps Wrestling on life support as a sponsored sport. |

Wow. Didn't see that coming. Logistically obviously makes zero sense, but keeps the conference at 6 teams and allows for automatic qualifiers which was the goal. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess...

If it weren't for the OSU wrestling endowment that I believe still funds a majority of the wrestling scholarships, the sport probably would have been dropped years ago. |
