Sharon Rissmiller, OSU's Director of Operations for WBB, has accepted an assistant coaching position with the University of Portland, the school that she played for during her collegiate career. For those close to the program who have observed how Sharon conducted her business at OSU with class and efficiency, they are happy for her to have the opportunity to coach again. She will make that program and those around her better. "Rissmiller compiled 1,069 career points at Portland. She was named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team as a senior and earned league honorable mention accolades during her junior season. Rissmiller averaged 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds during her senior campaign and was named the team's MVP that same season. As a sophomore, she helped the Pilots reach the WNIT." osubeavers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=521

I hate to lose any of the coaching staff but I'm happy that she gets a chance to do what she loves. She was a great representative for the beavs.

Look for Kendall Knotz to be promoted to take her place. Kendall does an excellent job.
Either way, an entry-level position exists for someone who wants to get into college coaching. Gabby Hanson, perhaps?

Clicking the link and reading the article about Sharon's hiring at Portland, I was struck by this quote:
"We feel like we have made an incredible hire with Sharon," Meek said. "Not only does she have head coaching experience of her own, but she also directly comes from an elite national level program at Oregon State.
Cool to realize that is not hyperbole or a stretch, but an accurate assessment. Amazing where SR has taken his WBB rebuild. I think our Gymnastics and Baseball programs would share that kind of categorization. Cool to think that ~3 of our sports programs are elite, national level. Wonder if we will ever say that in the future about programs like MBB or Football.
Go Beavers!

Gabby Hanson, perhaps? Did Gabby's name just pop up here by chance? Or is she a viable prospect for this job? I don't know - just asking.... ---------- I'm not on top of Sydney's career as some on this board are - but in 2 or 3 years it seems like she certainly should be SOMEWHERE in the OSU program... She's a former player with near legendary status, she's hyper and hard working, she's got at least another decade or two of being able to relate winningly with young women, she's got name recognition - everyone in the West knows her or of her, she's outgoing and enthusiastic, she commands a room, and by the time she's 30, or so, she will have been at OSU for more than a decade.... Seems like a natural to me......

I have no idea what Gabby is doing. Just brought up her name because she was a hard worker, loved Corvallis, and has expressed a desire to get into coach. As said, Deven Hunter is coaching at McNary also. A Sparks guard got arrested for assault (that's right, a WNBA player, not an NBA player) the other day, that might help Syd's chances in making the team/getting playing time. www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/26641241/sparks-guard-williams-arrested-florida

To the coward who goes by the alias of beav74 Who are you specifically unhappy with? Sharon Rissmiller? Kendall Knotz? Gabby Hanson? Deven Hunter? Sydney Weise? Or are you just projecting your own inadequacies onto someone you’ve never even met?

She was Director of Operations. Does that mean she supervised Kats ACL surgery?
