The video accessible below was shown during last night's end-of-the-season team banquet. It is just over 18 minutes in length. Worth watching.... A couple of things that I learned last night: 1) The team's trip to Italy with take place during the latter half of August. 2) And... the Beavers will be playing in the 16-team 2019 Preseason WNIT during November. That opportunity provides the Beavs with the potential of hosting as many four games against increasingly better competition. Iowa State beat Miami in the 2018 Preseason WNIT Final. www.womensnit.com/documents/2019/2/11/2018_pre_wnit_champ_bracket_publish_1_.pdf

Great news. Should be fun. I read in a January 2019 article that Boise State was also invited but at that time they had not accepted the invitation.. If offers were going out that early, it seems like many of the teams would be settled by now.
Do you know anything about how the 2019 preseason WNIT is rounding out? Who's in, who isn't? 4 games in Gill in November is pretty damn awesome to think about...What a great way to get the new players up and running and into the rush of gameday Gill. And from the fan's point of view, it's a lot cheaper than going to Vancouver !!
GO BEAVS !!

I have had no luck in finding anything on the internet as yet as to which other teams may have already committed to participating in the 2019 WNIT Preseason Tournament this coming November. However, one can get some perspective as to how the format of the event unfolds by looking at the dates of the 2018 event below. www.womensnit.com/sports/2019/2/7/Pre_0207190408.aspx2018 Dates
The Preseason WNIT always begins on the first Friday of the regular season. Round 1: Nov. 8-9 Round 2: Nov. 11 Semifinals: Nov. 13-15 Championship: Nov. 18 (CBS Sports Network) Consolation Rounds 1 & 2: Nov. 16-17 Consolation Round 3: Nov. 16 or Nov. 17

Thanks for the info beaverhoopsfan. The competition should be pretty tough, and will be a great way for the team to get the season rolling. I'll be watching for news on who the 2019 participants will be. Not really knowing much about the tournament, does the post season winner from the year before (Arizona is this case), get invited?

WNIT should be good preparation for conference (as opposed to beating up on Cal Poly, Arkansas Pine Bluff, and St. Mary's, although I'm sure we'll still have several of those on the schedule), give a boost to the RPI (which you just don't get by playing Cal Poly ...), and also help with early season attendance numbers. What's not to like? Sounds like great idea to me.

Just doing a little looking around, I didn't find any mention of other teams committed to play in the pre season WNIT, but I saw that last year the participating teams were announced on May 21st, and the brackets were announced on June 5th. Only one team per conference can participate, so if the Beavs are in, that answers my question. Arizona would not be invited.
Here's the recent winners: 2018 Iowa St 2017 Louisville 2016 Notre Dame 2015 Baylor 2014 Mississippi St 2013 Louisville
Win or lose, you are guaranteed 3 games, so it would be pretty good competition to start the year.

Mississippi did not compete in the 2014 pre-season WNIT. That would have been Mississippi State.

Pretty darn impressive list of previous winners....If the Beavs truly are participating in the WNIT, I think it will be absolutely GREAT for the program.
Basically, the Beavs have the Italy trip in August, followed by a month, or so, of "training camp", followed by 3 or 4 November games in the WNIT - all this before Thanksgiving. (And with luck, a name opponent thrown into the mix in early December.) Taking into account the number of young players fighting for floor time, the number of Bigs scratching out territory, and getting Kat Tudor back into form, the extra game time and the preparation it demands sure looks like a win-win deal....
At least that's how I look at it....GO BEAVS !!
