First off it's curious that instead of posting it to the uo athletics website she puts it up on a commercial web site called "The Player's Tribune" which on another page hawks their own brand of apparel. I wonder if she's in for a cut of the proceeds?
Second, if she wanted to say she's coming back, she could have accomplished that with three simple words. Instead she drops an excruciatingly convoluted 1,300 word yarn (sounds like it was ghost-written by Canzoni) where she mostly brags about the attention she receives from Kobe Bryant and manages to use the words "I" and "My" no less than 74 times (81 if you throw in "I'm" and "I've").
One little section was especially curious; where she says:
"We’re not going on a “run,” you know what I mean?? We’re not doing one of those things where, like, a team appears out of the blue, on the backs of a few good players, and then makes some noise for a season or two before heading back underground. Nah. This isn’t that."
The lady doth protest too much, methinks. ------------------------------------------------------ P.S. From the Wikipedia entry on "The Players Tribune":
"Although the site gives the appearance of athletes writing their own blog posts, this is not the case. The vast majority of articles are written by staff at The Players' Tribune, who craft stories based on long interviews directly with the athletes. Editing is allegedly minimal, but players get the final approval before an article is published, so there is little contentious content. The staff who write the articles do not get credits, giving the false appearance that athletes are the sole writers of their posts."

I'm not on the "hate Ionescu" bandwagon, at least not anymore than I hate any other yuck out there. Frankly, I kind of admire her for staying in school, even if I would be advising my own kid to leave early if she had the chance to be the #1 pick in her sport. The only change I would have in this sentiment would be if I saw proof that she was paid to stay in school. Otherwise, good for her.
Egotistical? Selfish? I've heard her criticized for being those and I suppose she might be...but it's been my experience that those terms describe a lot of athletes, including a fair number who have attended our beloved OSU over the years. A lot of athletes approach the field of play with the attitude that they are the best athlete on the field...it is that kind of confidence (which can easily turn into arrogance and selfishness) that allows them to play at such a high level. I think Ionescu has the same thing going on. I could care less if she wants to toot her own horn along the way.

I’m not the one who wrote that 1300 word love letter to herself. Then again, Sabrina probably didn’t either. You do know this is the Oregon State message board , right?

What Beaver team does she play for? It took me a lot less time to cut and paste it than it did to read it. She doesn’t play for OSU and I’m fine with that. Her record vs OSU is 2-4.

Yes, and you took the time to cut and paste. And yes, I know this is a Beaver board. What Beaver team does she play for? None and I’m fine with that. Her record vs OSU is 2-4. [br Then, why did you need to remind it was a Beaver board? And, her record is likely to improve after next year.

Sounds like I’m not being sufficiently respectful to one of your personal favorite players/personalities. Sorry bout that.

Dang. This thing really fizzled out. I was hoping for a fist fight in the Fred Meyer parking lot over a woman Duck hoopster. #Disappointing
