The last six games she's averaging 9.8 ppg, 2.8 apg.
The ball is now going through MP, not DS.

Telling statistics. However, her scoring seems to occur at critical times and she brings a lot of energy to the floor. She plays significantly less minutes than Mikayla and Taya which presumably reduces the ppg. In the Gonzaga game she hit a commendable 4 out of 9 from the field. She often draws a double team. She seems to do a good job on defense. However, I do not have sufficient perspective to determine whether we should be worried about the substantial decrease in the stats pointed out by pitbeavs but the stats certainly tell an important story. By the way, are pitbeavs dangerous?

Early fouls, like the two quick touch fouls she got last night, last night, have limited her first-half playing time.

One of my two keys for winning the game, Destiny not getting into foul trouble. Those 2 quick fouls left me feeling unfortunately right as the game was not going very well after she was out. But then she came back and didn't get another foul and helped lead the team to victory.
But yeah, she's been getting into foul trouble too quickly lately and it's taken her out of the games. She makes mistakes on defense and tends to be grabby to make up for it.

I think that like other quick players in high school, she never had to really learn proper defensive technique because she always made up for it with her quickness and speed. The thing is in college players are much better and playing consistent defense is a real adjustment.

I thought Destiny was a key--perhaps THE key--to the win last night. She played all or almost all the minutes in the third quarter and completely changed the complexion of the offense. The offensive energy was completely changed from the first half. She scored her points at the critical time in the game when it was beginning to swing the Beavers' way. It's hard to imagine the Beavers winning without her.
Of course it was a team win, also hard to imagine the Beavers winning without the critical contributions of Maddie, Pivec, and Corosdale.

She's a gun pretty simple.

I thought her game was great - she showed much more restraint on forcing the issue than she has historically, and she picked her spots very well. She always pushed hard to see if Gonzaga wasn't back defensively into position (which rarely was the case), but they did a good job most of the time and she didn't force it like she often has previously - she had ZERO turnovers vs. 4 assists. Maybe she showed a bit too much restraint, and I do think she's still finding a good balance. In a game where we were still - 6 in TOs, her not adding to that delta was critical. Even on her late game assist to Maddie, instead of her doing typical one-handed baseball pass winging it in there, she does a fundamental jump-stop and controlled pass over the top. It didn't look like here typical fanciness she's fully capable of that sometimes goes awry with the pass recipient, instead she makes sure it goes perfectly. We're going to need her superior athleticism even more as the competitor level goes up now, and I expect her to again push the envelope more vs. UL, but I thought she stayed within the game plan last weekend and it paid off. We needed her to be solid rather than special to win. We will likely need her to be special in the next game.

I watched the 2nd half of the Gonzaga game which probably doubled the amount of time I've watched OSU play this year. I was extremely impressed by Slocum's play. She put continual pressure on Gonzaga and didn't make mistakes along with hitting a few big shots.

She made one mistake with a bad pass to Katie which was tipped away by the GU defender - right back to Destiny. Destiny instantly recognized the open lane to the hoop, drove and scored! And made it look easy.

Destiny had a fine game vs Gonzaga, and was instrumental in OSU winning the 3rd quarter which OSU hasn't done in quite a few games. We needed every ounce of contribution from Destiny.

"instrumental...in 3rd quarter" for sure - and equally impressive in the final 2 minutes with great passes on the two biggest hoops of the game (Taya 3pt & Maddie layin). Even more important, because there have been several close games of late where Destiny was not on floor at (or near) the end.
