This was quite a disappointing tournament from my perspective. Our best guys regressed from last season in my view. Now it will get worse for us in all likelihood! Not liking the direction!
Oh, and we wrestle terrible from bottom! No urgency or chain wrestling at all!

The tournament went as I thought it would. I feel like a lot of the other programs are just very well prepared for the NCAAs and it's always been an uphill battle for our guys for whatever reason.
Although I was really hoping one of the two could have snagged a national title this time around.
Also I wonder how the season would have turned out with a healthy and motivated Griego as well.

Our cupboard is bare.
Yes we are returning 4 qualifiers, but those 4 are only good for 2-3 wins in any given dual meet. There is no hammer to get us bonus points.

We finished 20th in the nation; when for most of the season it felt like we were way below that level to me. So at nationals, at least, we did overachive IMO. Next season; well, will be next season.

What we did during the season was underachieving, and what happened at nationals was underachieving! The season being an underachievement set up the NCAA's being an underachievement! We had several wrestlers regress rather than get better. As far as next year, underachieving breeds lesser recruits. They won't come to a program that lacks success. |
