1st Round
125: Bresser with the 1st round pin. We've seen that one before - patiently waited for his opening, got his collar tie, pounced... Faces #13 seed Hildebrandt next (he beat Townsell/Stanford 6-0). Rest of 125 bracket goes as planned with favorites winning...
141: Grant Willits vs #2 seed Joey McKenna Ohio State- no surprise, Willits is up against a complete buzzsaw. Welcome to the show kid. McKenna out to a 10-2 lead after the first. McKenna getting to the legs pretty easily and having his way. 15-4 McKenna after 2...
Final 20-5 McKenna. Willits should see #19 seed Lantry of Buffalo next. Hopefully he can snag a win or two on the back side.
157: Hunter Willits vs #5 seed Hayden Hidlay NC State. Hunter gets a buzzsaw of his own - last year's national runner up to Jason Nolf IIRC. Down 8-1 in the 2nd. Hidlay dominating, 4 pt near fall, up 14-1 in the 3rd, has a leg in and riding tough with nearly 4 minutes of RT. Make that 15-1 final.
Hunter will see #12 seed Rahmani of Pitt who was upset in the 1st round.
184: Coleman vs #1 seed Myles Martin Ohio State. Coleman pinned by Martin. Gets #17 seed McNally of Kent State next.
285: Dhesi vs #27 seed Miller of App State. Dhesi cruises to a MD, gets #11 seed from Lock Haven next, if he wins, he likely sees Gable Steveson in the quarters. One notable upset - Sam Stoll takes out #5 Mason Parris of Michigan (Parris beat Dhesi earlier this year in AD's first match back).
First round in the books, unfolds pretty much as expected.

A few of the guys got rocked, hopefully gives them an idea on how to become better for future rounds. Oh for sure. Seeding didn't do us any favors. Was hoping Hunter would have had a higher seed and more favorable match up to start out, but at the end of the day, he's something like 1-5 or 1-6 against the rest of the tournament field. Both Willits boys have tough but winnable consie matches, so it would be great if they can make a little noise, get some experience, confidence, etc.

Sam Stoll was pretty good last year. Maybe he was partially injured this season. Dhesi and Bresser just need to wrestle their assess off. Both can win a title, but it will be up to them to do it. (Obviously)

Evening session
125: Bresser grinds out a 5-3 win. Not pretty but got it done. Hildebrandt was a really long 125’er, rode well. Onward...

I really appreciate these updates. Thank you. And I hope Brawler and probably Lucky are having a great trip.

Evening session 125: Bresser grinds out a 5-3 win. Not pretty but got it done. Hildebrandt was a really long 125’er, rode well. Onward... Hwt: Dhesi comes out strong, takedown after takedown, couple of nearside cradles for back points. Wins via tech 19-1. Looked sharp. Showdown vs the freshman phenom next. Cons RD 1 133: Turner vs #19 Josh Terao (American U). I swear Terao has been at AU for 7 years... DT comes out strong 2-1 after 1. Takedown Terao rides him out in the 2nd, 3-2 Terao. Terao with an escape to open the 3rd (4-2). Turner take down attempt, ends up a takedown for Terao. 7-2 final. Bummer. DT was in that one.... 141 Grant Willits vs #18 Lantry (Buffalo). GW in deep on a single, cant quite finish it. Takedown Lantry, reversal GW, escape Lantry 3-2. Fun scamble. 2nd: escape Lantry 4-2. 3rd: GW on bottom, reversal GW 4-4. Reversal Lantry 6-4, Reversal AND PiN for Grant Willits. That escalated quickly! He’s scrappy... really enjoy watching him. 157: Hunter Willits vs #12 Rahmani (Pitt) - will be a tough match up for Hunter. 1st: HW controlling head position and ties so far. In on a leg, can’t finish. Stall on Rahmani. HW takedown 2-0. Escape 2-1 to end the first. 2nd: slick reversal by Rahmani and 4pt nearfall. Ref probably missed a pin. Crap. 7-2 Rahmani. Escape 7-3. Bad shot attempt leads to 2 more 9-3 Rahmani. 11-3. 3rd: HW bottom, Rahmani riding tough. Has RT locked up. 12-3 final. Tough day for Hunter. 184: Bob Coleman vs #17 McNally (Kent St). Winner gets #2 Shakur Rasheed who was upset earlier today. 1st: BC on receiving end of a blast double 2-0 McNally. 2nd: BC on bottom - McNally rides him for the period. 3rd: McNally starts bottom. Escape, 3-0 with RT locked up. Takedown McNally 5-0. 6-0 final. That’s a wrap for Bob Coleman.

3 Beavs advance to Friday. Glad that Coleman and Turner each got a win today. Team tied for 12th last time I checked...
