Cincinnati Bengals"In one year at Oregon, he threw for 30 touhdown passes; in four seasons in the NFL, he threw for a total of five." Evidently the SportsDrop site needs to invest in a spell checker..... Detroit Lions

Find me a worse Ram QB than Terry Baker....
#1 overall pick 0 TD's 4 picks 154 yards passing 40.7 passer rating
Pastorini wasn't a Heisman winner, SI Sportsman of the year, or the number 1 draft pick.
He also threw for 18,000+ yards in the NFLand has a ring.

(He also won that ring riding the pine for the Raiders when Jim Plunkett QB'd them to the SB win). Pastorini also happened to be the #3 pick of the NFL draft in 1971, when Plunkett, Archie Manning, and Pastorini went 1-2-3, so it's not like Pastorini came into the league with low expectations. FWIW, Pastorini's passer rating with the Rams was 22.9.

He still managed to win a game that season.

Pastorini PISSED ME OFF when he beat Fouts and my "San Diego Super Chargers" in a playoff game in '79 when he was with the Oilers. Bastard.....;-) Then again.....that's what I get for counting on a schmuck to win a big game...

So, your argument is that Pastorini was washed up, even though guys like Plunkett, Manning, Ken Anderson, and Lynn Dickey who were from the same draft class still had multiple productive seasons in 1981 and beyond (Ken Anderson was the NFL MVP that year, set the NFL completion % record the next year, Plunkett won another Super Bowl in 1983, and Dickey passed for over 4400 yards in 1983). Being washed up before your peers is a better excuse than being a rookie without an NFL arm? Pastorini's stats were worse than Baker's. There's your criteria for being a worse QB right there.

He was washed up because he was finished after his stint with the Rams. A boxer who loses his last fight to a bum he would have destroyed in his prime doesn't lose all his prior accomplishments because of it. A washed up Pastorini wasn't as bad as a never was first round draft pick who never threw a td pass or won you a game. They also have Ryan Leaf as the worst Charger QB. Easy pick, because he was a huge bust. You can find QB's that had worse stats for the Chargers than Leaf did, but his huge bust-ness propels him to the top. I don't see how it should be any different for Terry Baker.

I don't see how it should be any different for Terry Baker. You have to remember, they are talking about worst QBs for each team. Pastorini was a huge bust and terrible QB for the Rams. The fact that he had some successful seasons for the Oilers doesn't help his Rams resume. The fact that he was a successful QB for some time sets him up as a "bust" in the same way that Baker being the #1 pick sets him up for being a bust. Dude threw 2 TDs and 14 INTs in his lone season with the Rams, with a 42% completion rate. Is that worse than a QB who turned out to not have #1 draft pick skills? I don't know, but it's hard to argue against Pastorini's stats.

Terry never had a big-time arm. He would have been a great college QB in any era, but with the scouting available now he never would have been the No. 1 pick. Back then teams drafted based on magazine reports.
He'd be a great fit in today's college game, where mobile QBs are in such demand.
And his failure in the NFL certainly didn't negatively impact his future life.
