With their fabulous run of 9.9+ scores on the floor last night, the ladies clinched a spot in the evening session at the Pac-12 championships. That's huge. The Pac has two sessions - a morning session for the bottom four teams, and an evening session for the top four. Scores are inevitably higher in the evening, as the judges have to give UCLA's Katelyn Ohashi at least a 9.975 for every routine, and the scoring is pegged from there. The champion always comes from the evening session.
And even if we don't win it all next weekend, that higher score should keep us in the Top 16 and seeded in the NCAA regional. Right now we're hovering around #15, with Cal and UW right behind. It'll be hard for both of those teams to catch us if one of them is stuck in the morning session. Nebraska is still a danger, though, so we need to hit our routines.
