Looking at the Game Notes for the Tournament, I was struck by how well we have done this year comparatively speaking..... Granted, no Pac-12 championship, but look at some of the results in what I certainly thought would be our "rebuilding year"......and that with Kat out and no AA: • The Beavers' 24-6 mark through the first 30 games of the season is tied for the fourth-best start through 30 games in program history. • Last season's OSU squad also had a record of 24-6 through 30 games. • Oregon State has notched the 14th 20-win season in program history, and its sixth straight 20-victory campaign. The Beavers have reached the 20-win mark for the seventh time in Scott Rueck's nine seasons as head coach. • The Beavers' four highest win totals have all come over the last four seasons (27 in 2014-15, 32 in 2015-16, 31 in 2016-17, 26 in 2017-18). • Oregon State has already tallied 24 wins this season, matching the fifth-highest win total in program history. Note that this squad is exactly where the Marie-led squad was last year. SR for COTY, anyone? Go Beavers!

I've heard people say this was a rebuilding year, and I heard people saying the same thing last year. Whether they were/are rebuilding years or not, I consider both years very successful. I thought this year would really be tough because not only did I think the league top to bottom was stronger, I felt Marie carried the team often last season, and I wasn't sure what they would be like without her. Then came the loss of Kat. The team's overall 3pt shooting went way downhill after Kat was injured, but this team still found a way to win, and for that SR, the staff, and the players all deserve big time credit.
The team has been, and is a joy to watch and follow. From all I can see, they are just wonderful young women, which really adds to the culture that surrounds this program.
I'm glad this season isn't over, and at the same time, I're really looking forward to next year. Thanks for the post 2ndGen.

Not rebuilding, reloading.
And I think we are set up well for next year, barring any injuries of course.

Now comes the tricky part! In the PAC 12 Tournament it has often been "feast or famine" for the Beavers. A couple of times an early exit in the first round even though we were a top seeded team. Other times all the way to the championship game.
We have played so many close games this year, I am somewhat fearful that we could get upset by Washington. It is always difficult to beat the same team three times in a year.
Any reassurances that we will prevail from you Beaver Believers would be much appreciated.
Go Beavs!

Those defensive stats, and only a little credit to Katie Mac for any individual defensive play. I was around during the days of Lester the Molester, and of course Gary Payton, and steals are a fun thing, but Scott knows what he is doing when it comes to team defense.

We may not have rebuilt or reloaded, in all actuality, but more re-tooled. We went from a team with a very mobile dynamic center with great footwork and dominant rebounding skills to a more static center. But we added a very fleet of foot PG, along with a very versatile 6th person combo guard, along with a slasher who got to play point.....while learning how to turn our center into an asset.
Great job of re-tooling. The pressure now (IMHO) is to have a great NCAA tourney showing, because I believe our potential high school recruits will be paying attention to that (done with their own seasons)......Pac-12 teams face each other 2 and 3 times in a season, making games more challenging than an OOC opponent, so I think the opportunity is there.
A great showing in the Pac-12 tourney wouldn't hurt my feelings either, mind you, since it might influence our seeding in the NCAA tourney, and cement our status as a host school (which I suspect our season attendance numbers will also positively influence). I sure hope there are 2 more home game opportunities in our near future!
Go Beavers!
