This from ESPN
"Major league scouts who saw Heimlich throw in a January workout in Kent, Washington, told ESPN the quality of his pitches had improved since college and he could be a viable major league starter this season."
I hope that he ultimately gets his chance - he's paid all debts to society.

A fun fact about the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos is that they play half of their home games in Laredo, Texas, the only Mexican League team to play its home games in the United States of America.
Another fun fact is that Jorge Reyes was selected to play for the Mexican National Team against Japan in the ENEOS Samurai Japan Series in Osaka this weekend.
Via con Dios, Jorge!
Via con Dios, Luke!

The excuse that MLB teams use is that he's just another college pitcher, and why take the PR chance on just another arm that's on your roster?
But that just sets the bar for Luke to climb: Don't be just another arm, be a DOMINANT pitcher. It sucks that he has to climb a much higher hurdle than other MLB hopefuls, but what has impressed me about Luke is that he doesn't sit around and mope about his predicament; he just sucks it up, takes a deep breath, assesses what he has to do, and goes out and does it. All he needs is a chance, and he has one now. I'm happy for him.

Anyone have some speculation on his CWS short stints? Focus lost? The moment was too big? Worried about the press?
is there carryover to MiLB or MLB? The spotlight gets bigger there

Anyone have some speculation on his CWS short stints? Focus lost? The moment was too big? Worried about the press? is there carryover to MiLB or MLB? The spotlight gets bigger there Both he and Bryce had thrown a ton of innings, and I think it all caught up with them by the end of the Supers. As to his focus and the stress; might never know, but he sure handled the stress well during the regular season. That was, in general, a real demonstration of just how powerful a team we had last year. Our 1 and 2 starters could barely get to the 4th inning, our all-conference center fielder went down, our all-world 2nd baseman was playing hurt and not hitting, and still we emerged champions.

I am happy for the kid.
I just wish we would let him live his life already. I have already caught the USA today headline of: "Luke Heimlich, who molested his niece, signs with Mexican team"
for f%#*s sake, come on...

Luke would be treated far better had he killed someone. Meanwhile, the real scumbags in this whole mess (i.e., certain Oregonian reporters) continue along their merry little, yellow-journalistic way. Disgusting.
