By and large, they are just terrible. It frequently seems that they're just 2 people having a conversation, which sometimes is completely about the game as it is happening before their eyes, sometimes peripherally about the game but not as it is happening before their eyes, and sometimes about the game as it was happening 45 to 60 seconds ago, but not what is happening before their eyes in the here and now.
In tonight's game, I stopped keeping track of the number of times a foul was called and we were not made aware of who committed it when it happened the 8th time. On the thread about the game itself, I asked at halftime where Destiny was, and somebody else did as well. I had no idea she had 2 early fouls until I saw Scott's halftime interview. The announcers never said anything about either one, nor did they bother to tell us when she was called for her 3rd.
At another point, when we were trying to come back, Pivec went to the line for 2. She missed the first, but neither of the announcers was aware of that. After she made the second, they talked as though she had made them both. Then we got a stop and made a 3, and they stated we'd scored 5 points in a row.
I find this happens game after game. They're terrible.
p.s. I must clarify that I am not lumping Bill Walton in with all the rest of the announcers. If I were, they would, as a group, grade much, much worse than terrible.

Yeah, tonight's game was like the game action was a distraction to the two announcers.

Pac 12 networks can't afford to pay anyone with talent anything except for the big two sports, so I doubt we are going to see anything better for baseball or any other sport not called Football or Men's basketball.

Man be grateful it was on TV. What do You guys expect.? It was a dull grind of a game.ASU plays that way. I wish it had not been Televised. Than You could start another Ron Callen thread that went off the rails. Sadly no useful information from You Whiners. bye.

What kind of useful information were you looking for in a thread about PAC-12 announcers?

For the record, billsaab, should you gaze once again on this thread, I feel that way about the announcing when I watch any game on the PAC 12 Network, whether we're blowing someone out, or getting blown out ourselves. And what do I expect? At a minimum, a basic level of competence. Due to budget restrictions, you wouldn't hire an accountant who boasted an 89% accuracy rate, would you?

Am I getting an audit? Because if I ain't I'm putting down $11553 for Goodwill donations *I strictly adhere to all IRS guidelines & practices.

Terrible for sure. I think all the money in the conference just goes to Larry Scott.

Roxy Bernstein is excellent, an MLB-caliber broadcaster who does some A's games. Rich Burke is also excellent. The color guys are inconsistent but JT Snow is very good.

The announcers have been a pet peeve of mine all year, for both teams. Running Anne Schotz knows how to call a game.
What I want from the announcers:
Who's in the game Who's the foul on What's the score How much time is left Some statistics (points, reb., steals, etc.) Some observations/analysis (defense being played, offensive gameplan, etc.)
If you can fit some interesting anecdotes around the basic information above, good on you.
