After going through a great weekend, I was thinking which beaver will win it this week. I looked and none was picked, and then looked up and down and we haven't had one yet this year! Whoever is picking these are clearly trying to get more air time for other players in the conference.

Two things seem to be indicated by the fact that the Beavers, tied for second in the conference and ranked in the national top ten, have not won a single Player of the Week all season. 1. Whoever selects them greatly values large numbers in the stats. The players who have been selected are generally excellent players, but what apparently makes them stand out in a given week is the compilation of big numbers. 2. This truly demonstrates the team-oriented philosophy of the Beaver program. They're more about winning games than making a statistical splash. I think to some extent this likely means that players who want to average lots of points may not want to come to OSU.
The Beavers have fared much better for players of the year, Defensive POY, and all-Pac 12. These tend to reflect players from the successful teams along with a few statistical leaders. Happily the Beavers have been one of the successful teams for some time now.

Yep, it's all about the gaudy stats line. We spread the offense around too much to have much chance at it.
