"Oregon State offered when I went down there for their Junior Day," Wellsfry told Scout.com. "I had a great time there. The facilities were really nice and the coaches were really welcoming and nice. I'm planning to go back for a practice there in April."
While the Beavers were the first program to offer, they may not be his only offer for long.
"Washington State seems like they are close to offering," Wellsfry noted. "I've also been talking a lot with Boise State, Montana and Oregon."
This spring and summer, Wellsfry is planning to hit several camps and he recently participated in the Northwest Stars camp the last weekend of February.
"It was good there and I felt like I did pretty well," Wellsfry said. "I loved competing out there and we got a lot of great reps and the talent level out there was pretty good too.
"I want to go to the Northwest Elite Camp, so that's a possibility, and I'm thinking about the Washington State camp for sure. My team camp is at Boise State, so I'll be up there with my team and then I'm considering Central Washington's camp, Eastern Washington's camp and Montana invited me to their camp, but I'm not sure about that one."
Wellsfry is an impressive looking line prospect with ideal size -- 6'6, 295 pounds -- with good feet, a trait he attributes to playing hockey as a youngster.
"It's funny because every coach that has met me says 'are you the guy that plays hockey?'," Wellsfry said with a chuckle. "It was great for my feet and also giving me that aggressive nature and that's something I take with me into every game I play.
"I can move well for a guy my size and I feel like my pass protection is probably my best asset. "I've been working a lot on getting stronger and getting out on the field with my trainer and working my footwork and conditioning."
