MRI shows Oregon Ducks’ Ruthy Hebard has no structural damage to right knee
By James Crepea | The Oregonian/OregonLive
EUGENE — Oregon can breathe a collective sigh of relief.
An MRI showed no structural damage to the right knee of forward Ruthy Hebard, the school announced Wednesday.
Hebard, who hurt her knee landing awkwardly while grabbing an offensive rebound with 6:40 to go in the second quarter of Oregon’s loss at Oregon State on Monday and did not return, is questionable for this weekend’s games with UCLA and USC.
No. 2 Oregon (24-2, 13-1 Pac-12) avoids what would have been a devastating blow to its postseason chances.
Hebard is averaging 16.4 points and 8.9 rebounds with 10 double-doubles this season and ranks second nationally in field-goal percentage (69.0).

Glad to hear this. Great player. I wonder when Kat Tudor will find out if she can get another year of eligibility? Is Jenessa Thropay available now?

Kat can't apply for the "medical redshirt" until she completes her 4 years of eligibility. I think Thropay is now available.

Wouldn’t mind having Kat around another year! Thropay was a last resort at the Cal game, so she should be progressively working her way back. Will be interesting to see if she finds herself back in the lineup. Trish has really emerged, and Rueck likes a tall center. Will be interesting to see where Thropay and Washington find their minutes next season.

I don't think it will be at center. To much available height on this team. By next season Morris will have the her place in the rotation locked down probably as the starter. Every game she is gaining more confidence in herself along with the coaches confidence in her. The light is beginning to come on. Their are also too many tall tree's to compete at center next season. They will have to fight it out for back up positions at power forward.

From what I have seen, most of the really tall women would have a big problem trying to guard the average college 6' 2" power forward, but from what I have seen of her out on the court, Morris moves well enough and has a big enough wingspan to step in at PF, and play on the back end of a modified 3-2 zone - our guards and small forwards can play man-on-man defense, and then you have these two tall people playing on either side of the key from 7 ft. and collapsing/blocking out as needed. This has been a fun year with a great run to the tourney ahead; the next several season are perhaps going to be on a whole new (aka playing in the NCAA title game and perhaps winning) level.

That is great news - she plays hard, has great skills, and it was a fluke thing that took her out of the game Monday. The ucks ought to be able to let her recover vs. UCLA and USC, and I hope we are on different sides of the bracket going into the tourney; epic title game!

I was referring specifically to next year. The incoming freshman will not be ready to play until at least the end of the season. In respect to PF Aquino is far more suited to play that position than Morris. Her ball handling, passing and shooting from distance ( facing the basket ) looked superior to Morris from what I saw in their high school games. Aquino was already hitting three's from the corners in games and even she will have a transition issue. Any transition to PF by Morris would probably have to happen during the following seasons. When Grymek is gone Morris will have to step in at center. Don't expect the frosh to be ready even if they are 5 star recruits. Besides the only real opening will be at center. We might expect Morris and Aquino to rotate at that position with Aquino subbing in at PF. I would have to see Morris outside game before I believe she can play PF. Many tall players in high school believe they can play out of the paint, but there is high school level play and then there is D1 level. You understand presently Corosdale is the PF and will be here for two more seasons. So you basically will have. Pivek, Slocum, Kat, Goodman and Corosdale- five players to fill in 4 spots. Plus you have Mattie and Jenessa and the incoming frosh to deal with off the bench.

I agree. Let’s see how Morris continues to evolve. She seems very athletic and quick to me, particularly for someone of her height. Yes, I see her as a likely starting center next year, particularly if she can gain a little strength or do a little better job at holding her position under the basket. Aquino might be too fragile to play post and my understanding is that she wants to play the 4 spot and not the post, as I learned from a very reliable drunk at one of the bars downtown.

Pivec, Slocum, Tudor, and Goodman can rotate among the 2 guard positions and wing next year - average of 30 minutes per person. Knock that down by 3 or 4 minutes each to get Simmons 12 to 15 minutes per game. That leaves 80 minutes for Corosdale, Brown, Jones, Morris, Washington, Aquino, and the other freshman whose name escapes me at the moment. Not enough minutes to go around. That's why I think Scott's going to redshirt the other freshman whose name escapes me at the moment.

You are thinking of Jelena Mitrovic, our Serbian recruit

Something tells me people aren't exactly jumping for joy here lol. I'm willing to bet some are even low-key disappointed by the news (as beaver fans). Strange OT topic!

As much as I dislike swoosh, rooting for another athlete’s injury is beyond the pale - and terrible karma to boot. I hope Ruthy has a complete and quick recovery.

I hate the ducks and want them to lose every game. That said, wishing for or being happy about injuries makes you a garbage human. I'm glad her injury wasn't serious.
