Here's a hypothetical: Let's say the Beavs repeat in 2019. PC decides to come back at the end of the season and head coach again. Will PB become the first college HC in any sport to win a national championship, only to get demoted to an assistant the following year? How does that scenario play itself out? Gary Henderson (Mississippi State) almost found out if that would happen

...Casey asked him "Well, whatdya think?" Bailey told him "Heck of a player, but his attitude and demeanor is not a good fit for this program." So they didn't offer him. So, in other words, the player would have been a great fit at hole.

I honestly don't think it makes a huge difference if Case comes back or Bails stays until he retires. And this speaks to the quality of the kids that are being recruited. They apparently come in as prepared and aware of what the program and coaches (and the leadership on the team) expects of them, know that any team that has won the NC and this past year had three 1st round draft picks knows how to teach them the game, and also know that academic expectations are high enough that should they not move forward in baseball, they will be ready to move forward in life otherwise. Oregon State Baseball is a life-model, and the fact that we have so many past players setting themselves up to become the next generation of coaches at OSU and other schools means that I believe, I know, I count on the same level of player commitment and attitude and drive to improve to be there when I am an old codger watching the games 20 years from now that I have seen in the past 20 years while gracefully moving through my highlight years

How about this nightmare scenario? PC comes back, Bailey goes to the dux who will have an opening at the end of this year. Bad luck ot even talk about it, but would you blame him?

I definitely don't see it being like the Campbell situation.

Pat Bailey does not have duck DNA. He has standards.

I find this thread amusing. You know as soon as this team hits a rough patch (and they will), Bailey will be the first person that people start questioning...

There is another thing to note on Bailey. He is THE recruiter. I made a mistake the other day at the stadium. A lady came up to greet my dog, and I started talking about Bailey and the coaches. She chewed me out for suggesting that all the coaches were good recruiters. It turns out her son is on the team, and she said 95% of the players are Bailey recruits or he closed the deal. Her son turns out to be a CWS pitcher of some fame, so I take her word on recruiting Lol. And this is a big freaking deal. If BeaverBats is “the” recruiter, then I really feel good about him being in charge
