Keep upgrading Gill, no reason to replace a colosseum with so much history. I always though that replacing a great mac court with that ugly piece of *&$" was a mistake. It would be hard to replace Gill, the national historic designation makes it hard to even make external changes. But I love seeing games in that building, and wouldn't trade it for state of the art - besides, it's paid for! If you prefer watching your basketball in a GYM rather than a “performing arts venue” then Gill is one of those last, best places to have a total basketball experience. Where the sound of bouncing basketballs and squeaking sneakers is symphonic and the smell of stale popcorn, sweat and Cramergesic lineament is exquisite perfume. Long Live Ralph Miller Court at Gill Coliseum!

I have no doubt I'm late to this party of a different look for Gil. That being said, I noticed that on TV the area outside the court seems much darker. It's the new lighting system that focuses the illumination on the court, and not the stands, like the 1950s-era lighting it replaced. Gill's front plaza is supposed to get a complete overhaul this offseason, too. Yes candle chandeliers are should definitely be a thing of the past. Especially in a Gym. Wax dripping down on players heads is not cool.

Wax dripping down on players heads is not cool. That old lighting was I believe mercury vapor lamps that took about 10 minutes to warm up to full illumination. That’s why they could never do pregame intros with house lights dimmed until now. The new LED lighting system is far more energy efficient and offers more flexibility in setting light levels. With the restoration of the windows (previously painted-over glass block) morning and afternoon practices and events can take advantage of natural light and the lighting system steps the LED system down accordingly. A huge improvement in both sustainability and functionality.

One thing I noted is we need more bathrooms if we are going to keep selling the place out. Those lines were ridiculous!

The restrooms were designed when Pepsi was sold as, "twelve full ounces, that’s a lot!"

I don’t think the number of toilets will have any effect one way or the other on WBB attendance. I can’t recall ever considering attending a sports event and deciding not to because there weren’t enough toilets.

There are also plans to move the coaches/administrators offices out of Gill. That would open up considerable floor space in Gill for additional restrooms/concession areas/hospitality areas.
Soccer/track/softball would move to the proposed new locker room complex down by softball/soccer/track fields. Some would move to the SPC when the south end of that building is expanded upwards. Some would move to the west side of Reser when that's finally done, in the current east side club area, which won't be duplicated on the west side.
Supposedly raising money for athletic facilities is going to be a much larger piece of the next capital campaign that it was for the previous one, which raised about $1.4 billion when the various donation streams were totaled.

Every time I walk in to Gill and get a whiff it transports me back to the first time I set foot in Gill in the fall of '82. I swear the smell has not changed one bit. Lots of great memories.

Yeah, I love Gill, but Mac Court was the best place in the world for hoops. When the crowd was into it the place was ALIVE! TTATT blows.

My question is, do the students have a section to sit in for WBB games? If so, where? If not, why not?? They deserve to be down on the floor. If the sideline section is now reserved seating, I suggest the end zone section beside the band, all the way up to the mezzanine level, but those students deserve a section down on the floor.
I also feel the over flow students for MBB should be seated next to band, rather than high up in the corner. Students were a big part of that great atmosphere for both civil wars, let's not short them.
