The progress and improvement Jo has shown since December is absolutely stunning....I don't know what goes on in daily practice with her, but it is obvious that she is dedicated, hard working, and remarkably disciplined. Her coaching has obviously been first rate....But in fairness, a lot of players do not respond in impressive fashion to first rate coaching - but Jo sure the hell has...
Her court demeanour has completely changed --she acts tough and even (once in a while) looks tough...she rips rebounds where before she fondled them, she outlets quickly and with authority.....I cannot think of any player on this team who has grown more this season than Jo....She made a difference last night - a big difference. After last night opposing teams, for the first time, will have to gameplan for her. I doubt if there is a coach in the Pac (other than Rueck) who thought that would ever come to be...
Coach had lots of reasons to smile last night, but Jo's play not only made him smile, it warmed his heart.
She is a remarkable success story - for herself, for determination, for good coaching, and for OSU basketball....
GO BEAVS !!
We on this board speculate on how this post player or that post player might have done if they had come to OSU as opposed to languishing on the bench at <some crappy school>.
Lost in the discussion, and something we can't ascertain, is exactly *how* that languishing big somewhere else would respond to our coaching....
I love how SR emphasizes getting the recruits who are a good fit, want to be here, will thrive in our culture, and I think part of that is making sure they will be receptive to coaching.
Back to Jo - sometimes I think an overlooked part of our coaching staff is the timescales they are operating on - with Kolbie, with Jo, and likely with Trish.
But Jo is rounding into spectacular form exactly when we need her to.
Marie Gulich really kicked it up a notch come March Madness last year, maybe we will see a sequel to that with Jo this year.......
Go Beavers!
