So since we are all coaching gurus on this forum (grin!) I thought it would be entertaining/interesting to see what Coaching tactics we could come up with to try to reverse the outcome of the first game of this series. Clearly this is not easy to do, because much as I dislike the Ducks they do have outstanding talent which usually wins out.
I would suggest we avoid the obvious (score more points than the other team, etc).
My idea would be focus on things the coach can formulate and put into place.
Examples would be:
*Play a box and one zone defense (some or all of the time)
*Play both Aleah and Destiny together for extended periods of time
*Set up a series of plays early on for Katie McWilliams to hopefully "jump start" her scoring.
Anyway, those are just a few ideas (probably not very good one actually).
Thanks for participating!

I like your first point. Let's just outscore them and call it good!
Seriously, I have no idea. Some may disagree, but I'm not sure that, overall, the Beavs can defend them better. Sure, little missed assignments, etc can be worked on, but the ducks are hard to defend. They are not one dimensional as some have suggested. They have inside height and shooting ability, the pick and roll, plus they are the best 3pt shooting team.
And speaking of 3pt shooting, has anyone notice that the Beavs are no longer a good 3pt shooting team. I'm not trying to start an argument here, but in the last 8 games the Beavs have shot 37% or lower 6 times. The two games they were good were at home against Utah and Colorado, and those are the two games when they had the least attempts (11 and 14). The last three games, the Beavs have shot 28.6%, 29.4%, and 19% from three on attempts of 21, 17, and 21.
One the other hand, remember the concern from all of us as we entered the season on whether the Beavs would have inside scoring, and who would provide it. As it turns out, the Beavs have become very good offensively "in the paint" in recent games. The horrible Stanford game is the only game in the last 7 where the Beavs have been outscored in the paint, and in most of those games, it hasn't even been close. 36 to 30 over the ducks, 46 to 24 over Cal (despite Anigwe), 36-30 over Utah, etc. Obviously, most of those points have come from Destiny and crew driving to the hoop, but the fact that they can get to the hoop, and still have the ability to kick out is a real positive.
Ok, that stuff had nothing to do with your question. I'm not sure what SR and staff will plan tonight. He went big most of the game in Eugene, and I think Graves will be prepared for that tonight, so we'll see how they counter back and forth. If the Beavs can defend and rebound, and if they can hit the 3's, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go smaller tonight for stretches. Go Beavs! Bring home the victory!

Just a quick comment as I'm dashing to a meeting.
I think rmancarl's post has some really good information and, as well, a level-headed assessment of our team... As Pac 12 coaches have all pretty much gone to tight perimeter defenses against the Beavs our 3 point % has dropped. All of our 3-point shooters are almost exclusively square up shooters except for Destiny, therefore they have real trouble hitting a 3 when covered.
The kinds of perimeter defences we are now playing against we rarely faced last year because we had a powerful post presence in Marie. Baseba111 has been a bit harsh on this team, but his basic point of this year's Beavs being one dimensional is, it seems to me, pretty accurate.
Grymek's point production is not so much a function of her skills, as Rueck's game planning and two players who are especially gifted at getting the ball to her up high 3 feet from the bucket. This is no slam on Grymek.
At any rate, I'm a die-hard Beaver fan who supports the WBB financially and emotionally. I'd give anything to see the Beavs knock off Oregon tonight. GO BEAVS !!

I know SR was trying to slow the game down but we had several shot clock violations in the game. We need to be ready to shoot when the shot clock clock gets to 10-12 seconds. It seems we passed up good shots trying to run the clock then were forced to take a poor shot when time ran out. I would much rather see an uncontested shot with 12 seconds than a desperation heave when the clock is down to 2 seconds.
