Realtime had Stanford winning by 17 pts so they got that right. Unfortunately, they have the Beavs dropping the next three games too. I like to think we have a shot at Cal but Anigwe is going to be a tough matchup inside.
I didn’t expect OSU to win this one. Just not a great match up and we’ve never had much success in Maples. I thought it might be a more competitive game though. Hopefully the team shakes it off and goes back fresh on Sunday.

Here’s the thing, we are going to be at a talent disadvantage top to bottom against national championship contenders, which Stanford is. To complicate things, Stanford does a wonderful job of not making the type of defensive mistakes that lead to open threes, Because of this, we can’t make the little mistakes like a missed box out, which we had a number of. In addition, we need to also limit defensive mistakes. 2 of Stanford’s 3’s in the first half we defensive mistakes from Destiny, the type she we learn to hopefully avoid moving forward. Learn from the film, move on, and get ready for Cal, and Go Beavs.

You are who you are this far into the season. Opposing teams have made the Beavers look pretty pedestrian on the defensive side of the ball. As they play the better teams the holes in the defense look bigger and bigger. It don't see it changing the rest of the season. I guess they can try to outscore the other teams but if you live and die by the three...that could be a problem.

"talent disadvantage top to bottom" A team with Destiny and Mik isn't at a talent disadvantage top to bottom.
"This team isn't really good on the defensive side of the ball. I don't see that changing at this point in the season." The defense is intermittent, at most times it's very good these days, but things don't go right at times also. This is a good defensive team, just needs to keep working no it.
I saw somewhere recently that Stanford is 9-2 against top 5 teams at home. Now suddenly the Beav's are a lousy team because they lost down there? No rebuilding year, they will do fine.

I see the Quacks blasted Cal. I wouldn’t be surprised if Stanford hangs a loss on them though. I wish Gulich could have talked Sabally into coming to OSU. Would have been a nice addition to the front line.

The Beavers aren't "lousy", but they are extremely one dimensional. As the season wears on teams fine tune. Stanford is far more athletic, longer, and deeper than OSU.
Stanford had a bit of a slump due to key injuries, one a season ender. They are a legit Top 10 team. OSU simply isn't, and never was. Polls don't make a team legit.
I realize the orange goggles are completely expected on this site. But, no one who had seen our own teams and teams that make Sweet 16 or deeper runs could honestly think this team was that good. OSU just didn't play poorly. Just as the men, Stanford dictated play and caused OSU to play its worst game of the year.
And, it'll not just be this game. Cal will be no easy task. Oregon could sweep. Going 2-2 these next two weekends would have been a plus. Still possible, but athletic teams that can play man plus have inside threats will give us big trouble. Sort of OSU of last year.
It's not a slam to win 20 plus games in a "down" year. To finish in top 3 thru 5 in a tough league in a down year.

I am flummoxed by the offensive 1 on 5 scheme we ran last night. What happened to passing the ball around until we created a mismatch or created space for an open look? I was surprised at the opening tip that Maddie Washington wasn't in the line up? I love Aleah, but Stanford had us in mismatches from the opening tip. Our girls played like they didn't belong on the floor with Stanford. I couldn't believe the indecision that led to multiple traveling calls, driving through the lane but not pulling up for a mid-range jumper (instead getting swatted) over and over. I sure hope our ladies can recover (mentally) before Sunday, and get a Win at Cal. Two (2) losses in the Bay Area could really harm our chance at hosting. Lastly, I hope we get another shot at Stanford in the PAC-12 Tournament. GO BEAVS!

Our team is very skilled an talented, however, we gave away a quickness and/or size advantage at every position last night. The other problem is Stanford played great defense, we never got the double teams to get the ball moving. The good news is Stanford is the only team in this conference who has the tools and desire to defend like this, with perhaps the exception of ASU. (But ASU doesn’t have Stanford’s athletes). Do your best on Anegwe, don’t let anyone else go off and light Cal up offensively like we usually do. Then get ready for the zeros and see what happens. I love our team and I believe in Rueck. Go Beavs.

I think we were much better before we became so dribble/1 on 1 happy. We were getting much better ball movement and thus open threes. This also opened the inside game. Part of the reason we shot so poorly is shooting contested shots so often!
