Yesterday's win over Utah improved the Beavers' RPI to 30 as the squad's strength of schedule moved significantly below 100 to 79. With losses incurred by Stanford (#8) and North Carolina State (#7) during the past week, the Beavers have a realistic shot at moving up to #7 in today's Associated Press poll. Just keep winning and all will continue to fall into place. www.realtimerpi.com/college_Women_basketball_rpi1.html

The answer is yes. Beavers move up two spots to #7. Oregon moves up to #3. Stanford drops to #11. Utah drops to #17 after visiting the state of Oregon. Arizona State at #20. apnews.com/afs:Content:3219960380

ASU moves to #20. Means OSU is now 2-3 vs. top 20 teams. 3 more in that category in the next 4 games, with the 4th still in range to be in that category later in the season as well. We're at the stretch that is going to largely determine our tournament seeding.

For this weekend, I like that OSU plays Stanford first. The Beavs can focus their Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday practices mostly on Stanford, and Saturday on Cal. If OSU was to play Cal first, it might almost be a trap game, plus OSU would have had to focus the weekday practices on both teams. With the Stanford game first and Cal second, the Beavs can better focus on each team one at a time.
In contrast, Stanford can't afford to spend all week just on OSU, so their focus will be split. Plus, by playing OSU first, they may be peaking a little ahead to Oregon on Sunday...then again maybe not. Tara is a great coach.
