I think the question posed was actually "Are you an angel from God?", but I think Layshia's real question was "where does your motivation for Community Service come from?" Mik's reaction is appropriate of someone with appropriate humility, that is at the root of every faith tradition I have come across, that there is still considerable distance between the idealized perfection of an angelic figure and a mere mortal here on earth....... Note earlier in the interview Mik talked about being "ready for the fight" as well.
Most interviews don't have much depth to them, they are (as we say in the computer industry) all about "speeds and feeds, bits and bytes". I take the fact that an interviewer is asking about whether Mik is on a "mission from God" (Blues Brothers reference :-) as a compliment, though weirdly done, hence Mik's expression.
Thanks for sharing. Go Beavers!

"Mik is not an angel"Well, that's certainly debatable!

I really like Layshia Clarendon as an interviewer, and basketball commentator. She has a great eye for the game, and it comes through in her color commentary.

She may not be an angel but she is a good person to have on your side.

Thanks for sharing. Go Beavers! I’ve been fortunate enough to get talk with Mik a couple of times in more than just passing. All I can say is she is a remarkable person. She is really bright, very personable, and cuts right through to a deeper level of meaningful interaction. I was stunned to see the level of maturity (and it’s genuine, not ackward or forced), humility and vision to go with all of that talent and drive. You spend a few minutes around her, and she may not literally be an “angel”, but she definitely is a unique one. In meeting her parents, it’s easy to see where a lot of that was nurtured. We’re blessed in Beaver Nation to have her representing us, both on and off the court.
