Battled tough but fell to #12 Wyoming yesterday afternoon, 22-16.. Bresser stuck his guy (ranked #17) at 125, H. Willits looked great in a 10-0 major - he's really wrestling well right now... thought Dhesi started out strong and faded a bit late, but won by decision 12-6, Doyle won a tough one at 74.
Came down to last match of the day at 149 and Reyes dropped a 4-3 decision, giving up a late takedown.
Colton Beisley made his first start of the season at 65. Not sure if Olmos got hurt at N. Colorado or we are just trying someone else.
ASU coming to town next Sunday...

Thought the Wyoming dual was a pretty good showing. |

Yes, it was a good showing. 2 WY take downs decided the dual. Dhesi fends off a 3rd period TD, and he gets a major decision. Same with Reyes, up 3-2 mid way through the 3rd period, taken down, loses and that's the dual.
If Dhesi still wins by Dec, and Reyes wins also, it's tied 19-19. I think Wyoming would have won by 'match points' criteria.
ASU will be tough. If we can bonus at 2 or three weights, then pull an upset, say at 157 we might have a chance?

I'm not sure I see a path to victory without food poisoning involved - Mainly because I see us giving up bonus points at a number of weights. But ya never know! We certainly are showing some signs of life as a team. Doyle had a good weekend and even in the loss to Amine, he was outclassed but wrestled him tough - I think he's probably the best candidate at the moment to give us a solid 4th guy behind RB/AD/HW. Appears to be fully healthy for the first time in a couple years... |

Agree on Doyle. He does a lot better when he keeps it basic and doesn't try to roll around and funk his opponent. Fortunately he has the #2 guy in the country on Sunday...the bigger they are the harder they fall :-)

To have any shot Sunday, we'd need something out of little Willits vs Crooks or Reyes vs Maruca and then 133 + big guys (other than AD) have to avoid giving up bonus points. I do think Grant has a decent shot at pulling off a win Sunday. |

Decent showing. How big would these duals be if we still had Griego. Legit could have been decent this year
