The Utes just put a whuppin' on Arizona today, a team that was undefeated not too long ago. Every weekend will definitely be a battle. UCLA hung with Stanford well today. I think they could be a tough matchup for us. Good game today. Bummed to see Tudor out for season. She was a real weapon.
Go Beavs!!

I watched the beginning of the Utah/Colorado game, and thought neither team looked good. Then after they settled in, both teams looked much better. I recorded all three Pac 12 televised games on Sunday, but quickly erased the ducks/cougars after seeing that it wasn't really a game after all. I only watched the beginning of the Utah/Arizona game, but in that early part of the game, Utah looked very good. They reminded me a lot of the Beavers last season. The had good inside presence, and were hitting their threes. Although I wouldn't consider their post to be anywhere near the Marie Gulich level, they still looked solid.
Unfortunately for Utah, they also lost one of their top players this past week too. It's amazing that Utah lost Daneesha Provo, Oregon State lost Kat, and Stanford lost Nadia Fingall all in the first weekend of Pac 12 play, and all to ACL injuries.
Despite the injury to Daneesha Provo, Utah has some very talented freshmen, and I'm glad we only face them at home. The Pac 12 looks very tough this year, with the bottom of the Pac being better than I ever remember. Nobody appears to be a push over.

Provo's loss will be significant...Her individual stats are fairly impressive... She had a very solid junior season last year, and this year she is Utah's second leading scorer..A very tough loss for them..
Several teams are having their resilience tested with the loss of major performers for the season...
I'm waiting anxiously (very anxiously) to see how the Beavs handle the LA schools without Kat.
Those with high hopes for Jasmine Simmons will get some first hand evidence of where she's at as a player this weekend... Her speed and athleticism are well suited to the LA schools....But playing on the road is a tough way to break in a kid who has never seen much floor time... GO BEAVS !!

Maybe her Int'l experience will be some help in that regard. We can hope.

We bemoan the level of the Pac-12 in the top men's sports, but wow, the women's side is a total opposite. Starting out 2-0 is a big boost in league, but each weekend is going to be a grind and must watch basketball.

The Pac 12 looks very tough this year, with the bottom of the Pac being better than I ever remember. Nobody appears to be a push over. Utah's star freshman Dru Gylten is really good, plus they've added some excellent 3-pt shooting this year. They will be a really tough opponent and they'll beat some good teams on their home court. Fortunately, we don't play them in Utah this year.
