This team better find an inside game because when the threes don't fall things will look pretty ugly. They wont fall every game. The Beavers did have a few cripples that they didnt convert. I know the threes are going down at a pretty good clip but the percentage would be better if they didn't shoot some from four feet beyond the arc. A couple went down but the odds aren't good when they are taken from that far out. Also I see a lot of standing around the three point line..not a lot of movement at times. Risky passes across the half court. Forcing some shots at times is an issue. Quick shots at times is also frustating. Desperately need to find someone who can hit the cripples with consistency. Too many missed opportunities close to the bucket. They aren't cashed in on when the opportunity arises.
Bottom line they keep winning but how long can that go on with the above issues? I just dont think they can go very far with thise issues. Hope I am wrong.

My point is that Mik and Destiny have to keep putting up the points. Off night for either and it's going to be ugly. Breadth of scoring used to be a Beav strength, and now it's a weakness. Just hope that changes back. Destiny brings something different to the court that only a few teams in America can boast. Her quickness and savvy create the need for opponents to game plan extensively to keep her out of the paint, get the ball out of her hands in the backcourt, etc. Her ability to attack and her vision and judgement with the ball should continue setting others up for really good looks. It seemed today that her teammates for far better prepared than when I saw them in Gill last month. The inconsistent shooting is an issue. I feel that Katie Mac, Taya and Aleah are good to exceptional shooters, and I can’t imagine that they will continue spinning wheels. Jazz also gave me some real cause for excitement today. She looked so much more comfortable, and has serious skills. Mik is just a great baller who can score in a lot of ways with her strength and maturity, and Destiny is remarkable. The loss of Kat is big all around, but if Katie provides what I think she will in leadership and all-around contributions to finish her career, and the other 3 women settle in offensively, we still have a shot at really good things this season. I’m convinced that we’ll go as far as our perimeter talent can take us, but any growth that Maddie, Thropay and Patricia can continue showing will help immensely. As for Jo...bless her heart, she’s an imposing sight and works at it out there, but she is slow and limited. If she can give 15 minutes, block a couple shots, get a few boards, score a point or two, that will be helpful. With Tudor down (one of only three players averaging over 10 pts/game) someone has to step into to fill the hole offensively. Slocum did in this game, but really Corosdale and McWilliams, as starters, need to up their game to hel p with scoring. No one is coming off the bench to replace Kat's numbers. Corosdale's not shooting the ball as well this season, and her scoring is actually down from her freshman year. Surprising since players normally make a significant leap from freshman to sophomore season. Katie is a force offensively one game, then disappears for a couple after that. As the senior, I really hoped she'd become a 15 ppg scorer, but shes playing more or less at the same level as last year as well. Anyway, it is what it is and hopefully Rueck can figure the pieces out. This next week on the LA trip will tell a lot.

AG's 3 pt accuracy (at 41.8%) is a bit down from last season's crazy-good number. That may be partly due to the number of unusually deep attempts she's been taking - I can't figure that one out. Also (a Big "IF") in regard to KT missing, could be Jasmine Simmons....she's making definite strides over the past few weeks. Her court speed is phenomenal. Her defense, especially yesterday needs work. Taya Corosdale averaged 6.8 ppg and 4.2 rpg last season (albeit some of the early games she was not a starter). The last four games the Beavs have played (Duke + C.S. Bakersfield + 2 PAC), she's averaging 7 ppg and 10.5 rpg. Her rebounding has been on a whole new level. Her shooting accuracy is down. She did have off-season shoulder surgery - I have no idea if that is a possible contributing factor.

Corosdale has been strong on the defensive boards, for sure. A bright spot that the team needs this season. Sort of forgot about the off-season surgery she had which could definitely explain the decrease in shooting %. She's taking a lot of her shots beyond the 3 line, over half her shots anyway. I'd like to see her move her game in to 10-15 ft, but that's just me. Rueck obviously has a different game plan for her.
