Here's a couple items (after 3Q) that last year's team didn't have: Destiny Slocum with 22 pts with 10 minutes to play; Taya Corosdale with 14 rebounds with 10 minutes to play.
3rd Q, doggies pulled w/i 4...but Q ended with 13 point lead. Resilience once again.

Women can't handle the press either. Something in the water at the practice facility?
Regardless, good win for them and a nice 2-0 Pac-12 start!

I thought the last 2 timeouts, but especially the last timeout by Jody Wynn was kind of pathetic. 4 seconds left in the game....time enough to call and execute an 11 point play, I guess.

It’d be great to see some inside production today and maybe some PT for Patricia if she’s ready. BTW, Stanford’s star F Nadia Fingall is out for the season with a torn ACL suffered Friday vs USC. re: Fingall. Not sure about the characterization "star". Fingall to date this season is 5th on the team in scoring ave., 7th in average minutes played and 4th in rebound average. Stanford's strength is defined by Smith, Williams and Carrington who accounted for a combined 75 points (yes) against UCLA today on 26 for 50 shooting, including 9-20 from 3 pt.

It bothers me that SR constantly leaves fouls on the court at the end of quarters. Washington inbounding in backcourt with nine seconds left in 3Q, we have three fouls to give and a player on the bench (Simmons), who isn't going to play much in the 4Q, with no fouls.
Put her in as the on-ball defender and have her commit a foul with 2-3 seconds left, make them run a tough sideline in-bounds play. But we don't and UW gets a basket at the buzzer. You get four fouls per quarter. Use them.
Seems to happen a lot. Last three years Kalmer would have been the perfect player for this.
Destiny is going to have to play 35-38 minutes in most games. We really struggled on offense when she sat today.
Refs let UW get far too physical in the final five minutes, hacking and grabbing, but no calls. The "jump ball" on Destiny in front of our bench was unbelievable.

Friday was won with rebounding, today it was defense/Destiny. Sure hope the team gets their shooting eye back. Seems like the Huskies figured they could burn out the Beav's now that we went from deepest team around to one of the shallower ones.

Heck, it seems like 45% FG% (and 43% from 3 pt) is not all that bad)

I really liked Jasmine's play today. She was solid. Wish she would look for her shot a bit more. Jas is going to a be a fine player for OSU. I like that Rueck is playing her earlier every game.

My point is that Mik and Destiny have to keep putting up the points. Off night for either and it's going to be ugly. Breadth of scoring used to be a Beav strength, and now it's a weakness. Just hope that changes back.

My point is that Mik and Destiny have to keep putting up the points. Off night for either and it's going to be ugly. Breadth of scoring used to be a Beav strength, and now it's a weakness. Just hope that changes back. Destiny brings something different to the court that only a few teams in America can boast. Her quickness and savvy create the need for opponents to game plan extensively to keep her out of the paint, get the ball out of her hands in the backcourt, etc. Her ability to attack and her vision and judgement with the ball should continue setting others up for really good looks. It seemed today that her teammates for far better prepared than when I saw them in Gill last month. The inconsistent shooting is an issue. I feel that Katie Mac, Taya and Aleah are good to exceptional shooters, and I can’t imagine that they will continue spinning wheels. Jazz also gave me some real cause for excitement today. She looked so much more comfortable, and has serious skills. Mik is just a great baller who can score in a lot of ways with her strength and maturity, and Destiny is remarkable. The loss of Kat is big all around, but if Katie provides what I think she will in leadership and all-around contributions to finish her career, and the other 3 women settle in offensively, we still have a shot at really good things this season. I’m convinced that we’ll go as far as our perimeter talent can take us, but any growth that Maddie, Thropay and Patricia can continue showing will help immensely. As for Jo...bless her heart, she’s an imposing sight and works at it out there, but she is slow and limited. If she can give 15 minutes, block a couple shots, get a few boards, score a point or two, that will be helpful.
