Hristova opened the season with an impressive 38 point effort in WSU's win in Seattle vs UW. This is going to be a challenging game. I don't expect WSU to be intimidated in the least. Remember last year, OSU had to hit a last second shot (0:02) to force OT. Then in OT Katie hits a free throw with 0:01 to win the game. www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/game?gameId=400994496

That was a really tough game. Aleah kept us in that game to give KtMac the chance to win it for us.

Washington State's defense is porous, they can't shoot free throws, and they get outrebounded most every night. Last year was an anomaly. Beavs cruise to an easy win.

Last year freshman AG, in that tough PAC12 road win, provided one of the signature performances of the season.
Destiny probably caught the game on TV.
This year, I’d expect Destiny, Aleah and the entire squad to use some home cooking to totally bury the Cougs. Gill will be rockin’.

Massey Ratings gives the Beavs a 89% probability of a win, with a likely score of 79-64. Realtime gives OSU 87% chance of a win, 85-62.

Rmancarl will give the Beavers a 98.75% chance of winning and a final score prediction of 85-59.

Rmancarl - I hope your prediction is right on, but I'm afraid it's too optimistic... The Cougs seem to be an improved team this year (they beat the Huskies at UW). Last year they played the Beavs really tough in Pullman, so even though we have superior talent, they have enough talent of their own to keep it close...
I think the good coaches have pretty much figured out that you MUST play the Beavs with an aggressive perimeter defense which will leave the paint fairly open. The philosophy for opposing coaches the rest of the season will be simple: "beat us in the paint - if you can." Every week the Beavs will run into defenses spread outwards.
These defenses will cause problems but hopefully not disasters...But the math is pretty straight-forward: the Beavs hurt you a lot more from the perimeter than from the paint, therefore: pressure the perimeter and loosen up in the paint...
I see the Beavs winning by a closer score, say 70 - 60.... GO BEAVS !!

411500, if the Beavers win the game, I'll be happy. If it is that close, I will also be a little disappointed. I still think WSU will end up in the bottom 3-4 in conference play. WSU has been a bit of an enigma this season. They started out horribly, beginning 1-4 and probably bottoming out on November 23rd losing to CSU Northridge by 13. They have turned it around since with a 5-2 record, and I think they played a decent out of conference schedule. Their losses have been fairly close (with the exception of a 24 point loss to Gonzaga), and their margin of victory has looked impressive a couple times (Wichita St 26, Boise St 24, USF 30) and two close wins, Nebraska and Washington by 3 each. Our only common opponent has been St Marys, whom they lost to by 6 way back on November 11th. I really believe WSU has improved a lot since then. Hristova is playing well, and may carry them to some more upsets.
It's really difficult to look at scores against common opponents and make any predictions from those scores. Boise St beat CSUN by 12. CSUN beat WSU by 13. Then WSU beats Boise by 24. Again, I think WSU has improved a lot since those early games! WSU lost to St Mary's by 6. We beat St Mary's by 33. The ducks beast St Mary's by 24, but it took Cal OT to beat St Mary's by three. I'm not sure those scores tell us anything.
I'm still looking (and hoping) for a big win from the Beavs tomorrow night. It may just be a feeling, but I think the Beavs are going to come out on fire behind a roaring crowd. WSU is last in the conference in opponent FG%, and the Beavs are 2nd in conference in FG%. WSU is last in the conference in rebounding margin. The Beavs are first in the conference in rebound margin. WSU is last in the conference in offensive rebounds (an area where I believe the Beavs may be vulnerable against some Pac12 teams). I'm not going to look it up right now, but I think WSU is near the bottom in opponent scoring as well, and the Beavs are near the top in scoring, which is why I'm thinking over 80 for the Beavs. Now, please, lady Beavs, don't make me look bad with this prediction.

I don't think that we should take any team lightly, look what happened against a&m. Any conference opponent could beat any other given the right game.
I think we will win, of course I always think we are going to win, by how much is meaningless to me. I hope for an easy win with a double digit spread but a close game can also teach some valuable lessons.

Looking around in the Pac-12, and watching the pace of evolution vs. need for growth from our OSU team, I would expect to schedule our next "cruise to an easy win" in November. Kat and Janessa on the bench just added some points for difficulty as well. I sure hope I am wrong and we get some blowouts (in our favor), but I am not seeing any "easy outs" on the schedule....... Go Beavers!

The road games will be the key. It's one thing to scrap out W's in the friendly confines of Gill. We still haven't played a true road game yet this season. Going .500 in conference on the road this year will be a steep challenge. I agree the next easy game may not be until next pre-season!
