Another year in the NFL for Derek. From the link: Coach Sean McDermott and Josh Allen have raved about Anderson's value to the team in helping Allen prepare and learn.
"I think knowing the job of the quarterback I kind of respected and appreciated at more watching a guy like Derek [Anderson] and a guy like Matt [Barkley] to come in and be a professional and come in and really kind of transform this team," Allen said in mid-December.
"I definitely think that we were a different team before Derek got here and the presence that he’s had in our locker room and on our offense has been tremendous. Then, Matt comes in, he’s kind of the same way. They just know how to be professional quarterbacks and for me to see that, that was huge."buffalonews.com/2018/12/31/bills-sign-quarterback-derek-anderson-to-one-year-contract/

Back when EVERY NFL team kept 3 QBs on the roster, they almost always stocked a veteran QB as one of the back-ups to a rookie starter.
The roster crunch these days where most teams keep only 2 QBs on the active roster, you end up with Nate Peterman backing up Allen.
I'm old enough to remember when almost every team's long-snapper was also their 3rd TE or 7th LB, or maybe even their starting C. Heck, I'm old enough to remember P/WR Pat McInally, and P/QB Danny White.

Punter, kicker, FB, RB, and, since this is primarily QB talk, Baker threw a TD pass in the NFL. And was a short term, kick returner. Lol. And he was still punting and kicking when Sage was in Vietnam Nam. So not totally out of the modern football era.
