I didnt see the game Saturday night and only watched the St.Louis game somewhat on TV. Saturday night I watched a doubleheader at the T-Mobile Center in LV with UNLV vs BYU and then St.Mary's vs Louisiana State. Compared to those four teams, we are small. LSU especially has some impressive big guys. I want to see 2 of our our 4 bigs (Glig, Kelley, Washington, and Wilson) on the court at the same time. Right now it's more difficult with G out, but we could still do that perhaps for 15 minutes. We need to find an advantage. We don't have it on quickness in the forecourt and when we use Tinkle at the four, we dont have a size advantage. Our guards are generally bigger but I still see us giving up a lot of good 3 pt looks. I'd think our length at guard would help that, but it doesnt seem to. Those four teams all had quick and excellent ball handlers at point. BYU's guy is non-traditional. He may be an inch taller than Stevie Thompson and no thicker (mostly bald and looked 35). But he kept beating guys off the dribble and creating good looks for teammates. St.Mary's got back into their game because their 6' pg started playing faster getting to the rim and dishing. For our bigs, both Kelley and Washington can run. The other two are physical inside. Let Tres spot up and slash and then run in the open court. Let Vernon get 20 minutes a game and see if the offensive output more than compensates for any defensive liability. I think we have some good pieces but we have not found a way to maximize them yet.

Our starting Guards are not good defensively. At all. Despite their length. Neither have that defensive, lockdown, nasty mentality.

Haha, if it was BYU, it's probably because he WAS balding and 35 years old!
