Wow. This is an embarrassing loss. Give up an offensive rebound on a missed free throw then they seal it. Will take a hit in the rankings.

It’s a shame we have all this guard talent but Rueck waited way, way too long to get a post. Going two straight classes without a post was flat out a bad idea. Watching Stanford and Oregon this week, we are a second tier Pac-12 team. Eapecially when Slocum plays this poorly.

TAMU is still a young team...they have no freshman but they have 9 SOPHOMORES (8 regular and 1 redshirt)....talk about unbalanced recruiting classes. They lost at home by 10 points to #18 Syracuse whom the *uks beat at home by 2 points. I expect a competitive close game tonight with OSU. Did you watch last night's game? If not a 20 pt win it'll be disappointing. A 7 pt win over a team who lost by 68 to two other Pac12 teams. <iframe width="18.860000000000014" height="6.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 18.860000000000014px; height: 6.259999999999991px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_27846734" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.860000000000014" height="6.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 18.86px; height: 6.26px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 888px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_48790626" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.860000000000014" height="6.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 18.86px; height: 6.26px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 251px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_15136564" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.860000000000014" height="6.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 18.86px; height: 6.26px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 888px; top: 251px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_84306924" scrolling="no"></iframe> Well, i said it would be close and it was. Watching Stanford and Oregon this week, we are a second tier Pac-12 team. Eapecially when Slocum plays this poorly. As noted, Pivec's 1-6 outing at the FT line hurt (as did the timing of some of those misses). Grymek gave us 8 pts, 6 boards, 2 blocks in 26 minutes. The 4 spot gave us 6 pts, 6 boards, 1 block in 45 minutes collectively. Also not helpful was them being very hot early, being able to brush their guards off of screens and penetrate for midrange jumpers, and us being pretty cold from outside (Tudor 1-7, Slocum 3-9, Pivec 4-9). Mik had a bad game (4 TOs as well). Goodman continues to emerge (guess who has the best assist to TO ratio on the team?). Hopefully we can learn from this loss, but we are certainly in for some challenging Pac-12 games. Go Beavers!

Not sure why the fan base here sees PG play as more important than an consistent inside game. OSU seemed to play pretty well with "make shift" type PGs and a true post presence. Especially some seeing an unproven PG being a huge difference maker in a league that is now full of quick, talented guards. Guard play is much easier to take away and much more inconsistent... it's why post types are shooting FGs at 60%+ and guards in the 40's. Post play also puts pressure on the other team in multitudes of ways. OSU in particular is a great example of how a respected/dominated inside game on both ends leads to a complete team that is hard to guard. It's funny how fans thought just a great bunch of guards would be equally successful. And, even with the numbers and seeing teams of that caliber in the past, how people saw this team as a top 10 type team??? Not having a recruited post presence after Marie's class was eventually going to lead to some type of let down. MW, JT are not big enough or skilled enough to be that player. The frosh are not ready. Grymek a decent spot player. Will this team win Pac12 games?Yep... more than they lose. But, there are not going to be many they just walk in and dominate. They'll be a lot more tight games overall, and bad shooting nights will happen. ND and tonight will happen in the Pac12, it's just a matter of how often and can OSU squeak out hosting tourney games. It will be a down year in comparison to some... but, it's a pretty nice to have a down with such good team and even better people.

For those who decided it would be fun to dump on Jo again. Take a look at the stat's. Aleah and Jo were the only two who were in the positives while on the court. We didn't lose the game because of Jo, we stayed IN the game because of Jo! Katie and Aleah were the only other's who had a good game.

Pivic, since a freshman, continues to dribble into trouble, that is, approaches too closely to the opponent and ultimately turns the ball over. Beyond me how a player of her caliber has not learned this basic fundamental.

Got of to a little bit of a slow start shooting-wise and defensively but really picked it up and knocked down a bunch of mid rangers. Very crafty and lots of finesse. What we need from our senior leader.

At least we were consistent last night. Both our men and women made Texas A & M look better than they are, laid turds and suffered close, disappointing losses.
The main reason that this loss bugs me more than the men’s is that Tinkle’s teams are basically similarly mediocre. They are almost never going to beat a team that seems on paper to be better than them. GP2 masked the deficiencies - hard to believe that one guy can do that so effectively, but his dad did that for Jimmy 26 years earlier - but they are who we think they are.
On the other hand, SR has a great system, develops talent, and has recruited top notch players. He has won at a high level with consistency, and he reloads with women who step up when great leaders move on.
I’m not panicking, but I sense that with the lack of quality inside play, we are in for a few losses that we didn’t see coming. Our guards are good and deep, but have been inconsistent. I remember some regulars in Beaver Nation being pretty worried last year during baseball season, concerned about some of Casey’s decisions and the clear lack of top play and depth on the mound. Like Casey, Rueck knows what he’s doing. He’s proven to be an elite coach and taken multiple teams deep into the tourney.
It worked out quite nicely in baseball. I’m not saying that this team is going to win it all in hoops this March. It was no shock that OSU could win the NC in baseball, but it would be a major shock if we win the championship this year in women’s hoops. My real hope is that - like baseball - a relative weakness right now (post play) can get resolved enough that this team can reach their full potential. We have the coaching and quality young women on this team. Maybe - like our young pitching - our post play will improve to the point that it gives us a surprise boost later in the season. We’re going to need something to happen in that area or we could be looking at a second tier finish in the PAC.
I know one thing: regardless of whether Duke is up to their past standards, I’m much more concerned about Thirsday’s game in Gill now than I was a few days ago.

Really liked Aleah’s game, her growth as a sophomore is pretty exciting. Katie stepped it up too .
Don’t think I’ll let one game drive me to any conclusions again though (i.e. after Friday’s game I was one of those who wrongly “dumped” on Jo. - she is who she is and she plays her butt off). So, I see the 1-7 shooting by Kat as a one-off.
Season negatives that stand out, after 10 games, are Pivec FT‘s: she goes to the foul line more than any other player, and she’s just under 50%; and TC, with the exception of Q1 v EWU, has not been reliable on 3pt shots.
Obviously TO’s, as a team, have been a bugaboo.

WAYYY to many turnovers and dribbling into traps continually with no outlet possible. A&M is mediocre at best and we're WAYYY over ranked at this point maybe it turns around but this was not a top 20 performance by any yardstick. Maybe too much sand and sun, but they laid a big one and clearly showed a recipe for defeating us, pretty easy it looks like now. Bad day, ok, teams have them, but we exposed many weaknesses and the PAC12 will take our lunch money and laugh at us if not substantially better than this showing. Maybe we're not this bad, but really stinks to lose to this average to poor team, hope there's better efforts ahead!!

A&M averaged a 29th national ranking before this weekend and may jump into Top 25 after the Fri-Sat games. I don't have an overall 'take' on them as a team, as I've seen but a single game of theirs, but I don't think I'd characterize them as 'mediocre at best'.
