Gosh dang it!! When I looked at my phone and saw the Beavs weee up by 9 at halftime I thought, “wow, we can really pull this off!” But, that dwindled away unfortunately. Second year in a row we’re up on them at half and then blow it. They’re #1 for a reason, I guess. Go Beavs! In my humble opinion, this is not a case of "blowing it". ND is #1 or #2 in nation. Beavs played tough and came up short. This whole Vancouver experience (including beating a top 15 team and losing a close game to #1/2) will do nothing but help them for PAC 12 season. Of the elite teams in college WBB (of which the Beavers are one) how many are working to re-invent themselves for 2019 having lost their best player? (Marie, it goes without saying)....And of those elite teams that lost their best player, how many are working to re-invent themselves with the loss of their '5' position player ?? Tall order this year for Rueck & Co.....but I'm certain I'm going to enjoy watching their 2018-19 attempt at greatness.

I think if we had Marie at the post we would have won this one. I think if we would have had Marie, Sydney, Jamie, Ruth, Mik, Destiny and Gabby we would have won this one.

ND gets up 70 shots to Beavs 58 Points in the paint 56 OS 36 not sure the thinking on swapping in Morris for Grymek. near the end. Morris 2 fouls & a TO in 4 minutes Can't win against elite opponents being one dimensional. It wears on a team... 11-27/41% in 2nd half Gave up 50 in 2nd half, 91 overall being outscored by 20 inside. Guards had 70 of our 81... "bigs" get off 10 shots. If you shoot 48% overall, 45% from three it should be a W... but not when "easy" buckets are at a minimum. Surprised in that ND was able to dominate the 2nd half with subs seeing a total of 30 the entire game (OSU subs 74 min). But, they shot 56% the 2nd half... only lead for 7 min. Both teams were not great from the line... OSU 16-23/69.6%... ND 17-29/58.6% Good test early on to find and work on adjustments.

Another thing that proved evident is that Corosdale is such a valuable player. She needs to be more careful with fouls.

Officiating was pretty lopsided in the 2nd half. Might not have shown in the stats but there was no question which way a 50/50 ball was gonna be ruled. Rueck didn't get T'ed up for no reason. I think the refs get caught up in the momentum sometimes when a team is coming from behind but it is what it is. It doesn't help when the Beavs couldn't hold on to the ball through contact. That said, lots if touch fouls on the Beavs down the stretch too. Felt like a home game for the Irish to me.
Grymek looked a lot better but she has got to develope a baby hook. PM isn't ready. Disappointing loss. The whole team is adjusting to Sclocum and she is adjusting too. It is so hard to watch us miss easy shots because we aren't ready for the ball but that was the difference in a game like this.
We are still searching for our identity because throwing the ball down low isn't working like it did last year. ND knows their identity and it showed down the stretch. Beavs need to learn how to be the aggressor and finish. Tons of potential, but not clicking enough to win this one.

And to points already made here, we weren’t able to score inside. TC being limited with foul trouble hurt. I take it all as a positive. We can improve inside before March. We saw NDs best tonight. They played seven players, we played ten. Get inside squared away and we may just be the better team. Fun to be able to say things like that when we are talking the national level. I wasn’t there, so curious; our d did not sound so impressive this tourney. Seemed like nd moved the ball around/inside pretty easy, and we are not causing many turnovers. Perhaps another area we see develop this year?

That team is extremely veteran. They have four starters back from their NCAA Championship team, and the fifth is an All-American who sat out with an ACL injury. They have all been big time players for a lot of their careers. 4/5 are also McDonald's All-American's and the fifth was injured her senior season or else would have easily been one. The point? This team is insanely talented. For the Beavs to hang with them, and at times dominate them really says a lot about how special of a team this is. Corosdale has proven to be a really good rebounder in these big games, likely our best alongside Mik, so to have her sitting on the bench much of the game, especially when she starts off nailing a corner three and then blows past their big, no bueno for us. This team is the best team we will see all season. Better than UO or Stanford. They remind me a lot of an athletic UO, but just all around better. We need to finish the rest of the non-conference strong. Nothing to be upset about. This weekend was a great one for the girls. Really wish we had Aquino, she seems to be a missing piece - potentially.

Another thing that proved evident is that Corosdale is such a valuable player. She needs to be more careful with fouls. The issue is that TC is not the solution to an inside presence. Half her shots are from three (22%) and only getting 5 boards. Right now she's just a bigger wing. JG, PM, JT, AA (hopefully) need to start contributing more than 15/15. And, need more free points... 81 free throw attempts in 6 games (only 58 makes... Pivec 11/20!) doesn't put pressure on others teams defense. Coaches and players will grow and adjust, but just not seeing where a consistent inside game is going to come from.

We probably won't have the inside game this year that we've grown accustomed to with Ruth and Marie because we don't have anyone on the roster with that skill set. We're going to have to do it with bailing wire and duct tape. I have confidence that our coaches will get the maximum performance out of our talent.

I feel so bad for Aquino! My guess is immigrant issues not injury, even though SR did say injury. She has actively been cheering the girls on on instagram. It really is a bummer she can’t be apart of this. I was given insight today on her HS situation and it is really sad.

Did well against the top team in the country while the Beav's are still trying to figure out how this team is going to play.
Katie- When 5'8" Arike is guarding you on the perimeter, SHOOT. This is your year and you can't do the fading into the team thing.
Jo- Had one close up shot of her face and she looked exhausted. Wonder if she had the traveling flu? She a couple of shots that were just weird and I think she was told to take them and it wasn't working.
Kat- That's the way to be a super sub!
Janessa- Battling some pretty good bigs and did just fine.
Trish- One moment in high school and then the top college team in the country. Must be interesting.
The Beav's lose and then they learn and come back better than they were. If there is one defining thing to SR teams it's that. I look forward to how this all goes.

Anything that is not a HIPAA issue (ie a medical condition) would be something that would be disclosed.

Jo played 18, 23 and 22 minutes in 3 straight days/games. Might not sound like a lot but it probably is for any 6'-8" girl. More minutes than Tudor or Goodman played. Loved her big block on Shepard in the first half.
